Bungie, noooooo!

It's sad, but I'm not overly surprised, with the way they're setting up the world I wasn't holding my breath...

Let's not forget the context of this quote:
"Forge-inspired user-generated content could come to Destiny, but Bungie isn’t ready to reveal in what capacity quite yet."
Green could have easily been alluding to what they're willing to talk about, which is not the same as the final feature set.
I'm remaining hopeful.

That LAN video ruined batman for me forever. "I'm sure one day we'll explore that" is a really odd way of saying the studio isn't ready to talk about what would hypothetically be a launch feature. Especially considering how many times Bungie employees have literally said, "we're not talking about that yet." I'm confident in my interpretation of the quote, but I would love--so love--to be wrong.

I think it's their way of saying "it would be cool to incorporate that into a future title but not something that's going to be in this game."
I really don't see how Forge would fit into a game like Destiny.

Wut!?!?
World building, Grognok...
You could build a world, upload it with a description and title. People could go to a travel agent in the tower, browse a catalogue and download the world's coordinated to their Ghost. Then go to their ship and fly there.
Or don't bother with a bricks and mortar travel agent. Just access user worlds via the ship navigation interface.

Now see, this right here moved the needle. Why can't your name be Urk?

Perhaps one day I can compare. I did say at one point that Blue's LAN had the best food except for the Swedish meatballs by Oskar.

True with the current gen console's ability to stream and record video it's not as big a deal as it was last gen. Thanks to these features we can record gameplay and save it via Twitch and other services.

Not the same at all (to me). Films enabled so much community-created content because of their flexible nature. Being able to say Xbox Record That to capture that headshot you just made doesn't even come close.
Still hopeful.

Being able to fly the camera around and take pictures was the great part for me. It's just not the same as recording something from your point of view. I was really hoping to see stuff like Hedge's pictures come out of Destiny.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's a replacement. Would I prefer film tools like Halo had? You better believe it but we have to realistically realize that Halo did not have those it's first outing either. At least with what the consoles currently have we won't be completely out in the cold. That's all I'm saying.

We can't, however, get whatever angle we want. Or any of the other things we get in a dedicated theater mode. It sucks ass. It's like going from 4k at 60fps to 240p at 15fps. Or going from MLB to little league. Or going from Hollywood to Bollywood. Or firing Marty. Or from landing on the Moon, to landing at the mall.
Tl;dr - Game DVR/ twitch is shit compared to theater mode.
Edit: Not really directed at you, but that opinion in general.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was no saved films feature.
I should also mention that I would prefer a game-specific saved films/screenshot feature. I don't think it'll happen for this installation of Destiny though.
I've been thinking...

While I risk the rebuttal of "Internal tool", if there is no theater then how were they able to produce this effect?
Internal tool.
by uberfoop , Seattle-ish, Tuesday, April 29, 2014, 16:21 (3860 days ago) @ INSANEdrive
Seriously, though. Games getting arbitrary camera movements in promotional material is generally no useful indication whatsoever of users actually being able to fly a camera around.
Might be worth pointing out that even the original Halo had third-person shots in advertisements.
Internal tool.

Basically, both Forge and Theater mode were consumer versions of internal tools.
Thought so. Thank You.
