Gamemaster (UK) cover story (Destiny)

Someone just loaned me a copy. From the July issue (not on the web):

"There’s so much to say we could’ve dedicated the whole mag to it – Destiny
is set to be incredible."

"With the ambition and talent and money behind this project, success will only be attained if it’s the biggest and best thing since sliced bread (and the original for that matter, not the poor Sliced Bread 2: Retribution). What we’ve played and seen so far suggests that this is not only possible, but likely. So engrossing and
well-conceived is the Destiny universe that it’s easy to overlook the pitch-perfect gameplay mechanics. And these gameplay mechanics are going to be used to tell your story in your way, played out across a vast and varied setting, and with people of your choosing (or not)."

"Redefining one genre with a franchise was a remarkable achievement; this time Bungie
is looking to alter the landscape of a handful of them. Whether they succeed or not is a question that remains to be answered, but based on what we’ve seen so far we certainly won’t be betting against it."

I'm sure there are juicier specifics, but I'm at work. Maybe later.

Thanks. Also, it's Games Master, which sounds odd to my ears, but okay. That might have affected my ability to find links earlier.

They played The Devil's Lair Strike that ends right before the battle with Sepiks.
Also saw a bit of a Patrol in Old Russia.

Two things I found interesting:

If all Guardians die at once, progress is reset. (Makes sense, but don't think I've seen mention of death mechanics before)

The whole world is running on a single set of servers which is pushed out to all platforms. (I assume that means that if players have some ability to affect the world, that's happening for all Destiny players, regardless of platform.)
