So if Guardians are the resurrected ghosts of dead people, then perhaps the current human guardians died mostly intact or were recovered for an honorable burial.

Then you could gather the Awoken were humans who were completely consumed by the darkness, and changed.

Then you could speculate, the Exo's human bodies were destroyed, leaving them to need new steel, everliving bodies...

So you could say.....

Bad joke aside... where are we getting that Guardians are resurrected people? Is it just the "Shake it off. We've all been dead before?" and the Ghost's "I've been searching for you for centuries?" Is there any more?

Because if that's it I'd say its still highly inconclusive.

Yeah, there's also some NPC dialog on the matter. Some pretty nifty stuff in there.

Ah! There it is! "Is it true you used to be dead... before your Ghost found you?" But the answer could be yes, or it could be no.

"Chosen from the dead by the Traveler's Ghosts, Guardians are those rare few able to wield the Traveler's Light as a weapon." is a bit more conclusive though...

I really wish I hadn't forgotten that second one... :/
