Cancel your pre order. Make your point. It has worked in the past.
Blizzard announced it would require users to post their real names on their forums. Later they rolled back this policy. Why?
The answer was that people canceled their Diablo 3 and WoW preorders and let Blizzard know it was because of the new RealID policy:
Almost a quarter of the preorders were canceled. This got Blizzard's attention, and they caved in. Pre orders are important, since it's an indication of how well a product will do, as well as a signal to retailers as to how hype it is and how much to stock. So important, that beta access has been used to entice you.
If you REALLY are upset about the exclusives, then Xbox owners need to cancel their preorders en masse. You actually have to do it and follow through though.
I myself don't preorder, so there's nothing to cancel. Get on reddit or something, organize a mass cancelation, then watch Bungie backpedal. It has been done for Blizzard, it can be done for Bungie, but only if you all stay pissed off and actually take action.
Don't stay butthurt xbox users. I am completely on your side here, but I have the luxury of having a PS4 so I'll just have to support you all in spirit while I'm playing the beta and you're not.

I have a feeling people are not going to be upset enough to make it happen. But who knows! People seemed to have already cooled down a bit. At least here.

In other posts you tout how you told us so a long time ago. Now you show decent numbers to support the idea of canceling preorders. And your conclusion? "...but I'm good with my version so it's up to you guys to fall on your own swords."
Thanks... I guess...
Really wouldn't one of the key companies that needs to be targeted here be Sony? The one who was one of the biggest parties in these rotten deals? The one you're supporting while we don't play the beta. In the end doesn't that make you the problem and not us?
Just something to think about. :)

Nobody has seen a single cent, nor preorder from me yet. I haven't supported anybody yet.

You gave Sony $400ish more dollar than I did so far, correct? Maybe you also didn't click the button for the preorder, but you played the Alpha showing your support for Sony's deal making. Yes, I'm being a bit nitpicky, but then I think it's kinda rude to say: "...so I'll just have to support you all in spirit while I'm playing the beta and you're not."
Again, that gets a "Thanks... I guess..." from me.
I think those who said things more along the lines of "I got to play the Alpha but I still feel bad for you Xbox guys..." seemed a lot more sincere than you do. I feel like you made a good point about the cancellations but then followed it up by needlessly and purposely needling us from the other direction.

Completely fair. I think it's just my bewilderment getting the better of me that the outrage is NOW when you all were informed of this over a year ago.
On one hand, it does completely suck, but on the other, you all had been given the heads up 12 months in advance. If folks as a whole had planned and nobody pre ordered any xbox versions, the problem would have gone away.

True, it is a bit strange. But the head ups themselves have been pretty vague. Bungie's marketing for the last year or so was:" Beta beta beta beat beta..." then E3 2014 comes along and SURPRISE there's an Alpha 3/4ths of Destiny's players can't play unless they want to go out and spend an unplanned $400 within four days. I think people have been miffed about the exclusive content but they also saw it as just a thing that happens and not that big a deal. For me, at least, it was the surprise Alpha plus the already short beta being even shorter because of a behind the scenes deal I had no control of. It was that combination that got me mad now instead of before and, unfortunately, lead me to post a stupidly titled topic.
The exclusives and Alpha / Beta are kinda crappy, they're just not crappy enough to sway opinions like we saw in those other examples. I'm not much help here either though since I want a Ghost edition and to make sure I get it I need to have it preordered... :(

Step 1. Xbox preorder cancellation works in an effective way.
Step 2. Bungie notices
Step 3. Bungie calls Activision to alleviate said problem
Step 4. Activision cackles a mad cackle, and readies a worn, industrial "No" stamp
Step 5. Kotick laughing spreads his wings, oh lord yea.

I am just generally pissed off about Activision, all of the other garbage about dlc exclusivity and beta differences just makes me angrier. Oh, and then there's the announcement of 2 dlc expansions before release, wait, before the beta! I wonder how soon they will release the dlc, I hope it's longer than a month after release.
I wonder if they will sell dlc that allows me to progress through the game faster? Because I am sure people will buy it, who cares if it negatively affects the game, it just means more money for Activision.
I bet Activision has all sorts of innovative ideas for squeezing money out of Bungie fans, I can't wait to find out.
It's going to be a long 10 years.

They can announce DLC prior to the game's launch. Nothing wrong with that at all. Destiny's a ten year plan, and there's the whole "Comet" things and whatnot. It doesn't mean that these are done, or that they'll even be ready until some time after the game launches. For all we know, it could be six months later. Now, if the DLC is playable at launch and they still request that you pay for it, well, it should have been included in the game at that point and yeah, that's some EA type of shady right there. I'm thinking it's not the latter. At least I hope.

I hope not again, but who knows.

Well, not necessarily. Sort of the point of Cody's post, right? If things like you think might happen actually do play out, you could just stop. I don't buy games produced by EA anymore. It sucks, but I got fed up with it. There are some great developers working under them, but I couldn't deal with it anymore. I really hope not to go that route with Bungie because of Activision (or, gasp, because of Bungie itself), but ten years is a long time, right?
