Time Traveling Robots and Venus

So I'm not sure where I've heard this, but apparently the Time Traveling Robots are encountered in a jungle.

I know it's a bit of a stretch, but my mind immediately jumped to the thought of traveling billions of years into the past, to a point in time when Venus wasn't a death world, but rather all jungle.

Anyone aware of information that could corroborate this?

I was thinking somewhat about the implications of their time travelling too ... I initially thought that if they wanted to wipe out humanity in this time ... why now? why not fling themselves billions of years in the past to go stomp on some amoebas? Maybe they simply want some current human tech, or more likely to infiltrate and exploit the technology in the Traveller (this could be the most exposed the Traveller has been to technological abuse in billions of years?)

Anyway, if these unpleasant robots had individual time travel devices, which let them zip around willy-nilly it would be inconceivable in terms of game play. Imagine trying to assault a group of them only to realise they killed you too days ago when you were on the loo? Wait, what … my past-self would be the one killed so I wouldn’t be … erm damn time travel paradoxes. So one would guess that their abilities would have to be nerfed somewhat.

To follow your logic - as funny as it sounds, perhaps the time travel ability of theirs is more akin to … *ahem* Sonic CD? Where the fire team activates something to get to a pre-determined ‘time’ or that perhaps there is a generator and only within that zone does time go backwards / forwards which would be more akin to Zelda: LttPs take on time travel? - This could have some interesting temporal based puzzles!

Or perhaps this is a major oversimplification and Bungie have something much more nuanced to show us?

Hmmm, I have nothing to back this up, but for some reason the first thing I thought when I heard about "time travelling robots" was that they were displaced from their timeline.

That is to say, something happened that caused them to be tossed into the temporal sea and for whatever reason they can't go back. Or something like that, as I said I don't have anything to back this up, but it is the first thing I thought of.

Haha, this could also be a much more simple explanation rather than zipping around dimensions and times like Bill and Ted.

I also thought that a 'space folding' type technology could be considered time travel, since you would be would be distorting space-time to get from A to B. that might just be boring though. If they do go with a 'displaced in time' story though, as you suggest, that would lend itself to exploration over the next three games as to where they came from and if they find their way back, will they return?

Heh, I liked that approach. Could lead up to some great twists later in the series.

I was picturing something like Terminator; it's a one way trip. But unlike terminator, organics wouldn't survive. Therefore, only the robots of the future were sent back.

Or maybe they were made by humans to help them reclaim the technology of the past, but they went rogue.

Lots of possibilities. Either way, this is the story point I'm most interested in so far.

Or maybe it's like Back to the Future where they are sent back but forget to pack fuel for their time machines. Stupid robots...

It's interesting how the ARG entry that had a geomantic symbol for Venus made a reference to the future and past intersecting now, also the Shores of Time chapter name from the vidoc has my imagination running wild

Sorry the arg entry with the quote I used is

Actually the entry for mercury, I recalled it poorly, but speaking of the Arg, alphalupi.bungie.net is now operating in "historical mode" and instead of displaying the wallpapers and soundtrack sample, it makes you choose a day to input a geomantic symbol to do the whole geomask thing from when it first started.
