BungieHelpBeta doods are swell. (Destiny)
So I'd been met with a persistent centipede error for the better part of a week, unable to log in to Destiny, and forced to play on the PS3 with its terrible mutant controller. (#fwp)
After a little back and forth with the team over the last couple days, and at least one failed (for me, at least) attempt at a fix, I got some focused attention on my corrupted account issue and it appears to have straightened everything out.
Particularly with the sheer number of players flooding the servers once the XBL side of things opened up, and now with even more joining the fray since codes aren't needed, I'm definitely feeling the love. They have so many bigger fish to fry but they still took time to get me sorted.
Anywho, since I lost all my progress in the process, I'll be starting up new builds tonight. Anyone feel like rolling anything new, or doing some power-levelling? I'm itching to finally tangle in the Crucible with the proper DBO crew.

How To Power Level?
I've been thinking of the following strats:
- Speed run the Story Missions until you're Level 6
- Replay the Story Missions with Bounties at a higher difficulty
- Go for Crucible Bounties once you've cleared your Vanguard bounties

Yeah, I'm thinking option 2. And having higher-level Fireteam members whittle down health on tougher enemies and then going for the kill; unless the exp gain is proportional to damage output. Which would make a lot of sense.
My other thought is running Strikes on the higher difficulty. Even if my Fireteam has to scrape me off the walls for a while, it ought to do the trick, I'd think.

Speaking of difficulties
What do they do? AFAIK, I get the same XP out of enemies on both difficulties.

PS4? If so, I would be interested in rolling a new character with you tonight. I still haven't messed around with the Warlock much, or the Titan at all.
Ah, 360.

Ah, 360.
I have it on 360 as well, so you can count me in if you're still looking to fill out a fire team this evening.
Sounds like a plan!

The higher difficulty:
- Has higher level enemies
- Has more enemies
- Give higher first-complete XP bonuses.

Not particularly efficient apart from the Prologue mission; where you get a free upgrade to Level 2 while going into the final building. So literally just run past everything until you're inside the final building (but do pick up your weapons!!)
The other 4, a lot of your time is spent running or riding and NOT earning XP. So full-on, lower-difficulty speed runs leave you only at level 5 by the end of it all (I've tried it, so this is from experience).
I think you'd be better off going in on the higher difficulty, co-op to take the edge off the difficulty, and killing everything as you go. The higher difficulty has higher first-complete XP bonuses by 500-1000 XP, so that'll help. Plus there are more enemies to get XP from by killing.
[*]Replay the Story Missions with Bounties at a higher difficulty
Bounties definitely help a lot. But depending on what they are, the Story mode won't be optimal. There's one for 'Fallen Majors and Ultras' where you might be better off farming an Explore spawn. e.g. there is a Reaver Vandal (I think) spawn on Forgotten shore near the back that I just sniped a lot.

Excites. I might be on as early as Saturday night. Of course, we all know what class I'm playing. I mean, how couldn't you? /343GS
Sounds like a plan!
I might be able to join in late. I wanted to start a new Hunter--but I also have a Warlock that I just started last night. So if I get on and you're leveled up a bit I can use the appropriate character to round out your fireteam if someone else hasn't already joined. GT: JDQuackers

If I'm needed, I'd be proud to be your wingwarlock.

What time do you plan to be playing tonight?
How To Power Level?
The fact that you guys are even talking about how to optimally level and where to farm exp and ememies, as well as the glimmer farming routes, just shows what these systems really do and what they really encourage.
A metagame? How dreadful
I jest. Sort of.

The meta game shouldn't settle around the BORING things, but rather the INTERESTING things.
A metagame? How dreadful
Okay, I do agree on that much. I actually find that stuff interesting personally, to a given value of interesting.
But Im also the kind of guy who likes spreadsheets, so YMMV, obviously.
Well, the Beta IS time-limited... That's aggravating, no?

Full game speed runs, bro
The fact that you guys are even talking about how to optimally level
My interest in this is mostly in the context of full-game story speed runs. Balancing between getting enough XP to level up and be powerful vs. simply going fast through the levels will be quite a challenge. Especially on the higher difficulty.
and where to farm exp and ememies, as well as the glimmer farming routes, just shows what these systems really do and what they really encourage.
If it were me, I'd change the spawn system to slow glimmer right down, to something you'd just check 'on your way through.'
I'd also slow down the enemy respawns, add more ways for them to come in (the dropship in the spawn area could be used more), have some spawn off-map and move to position and add groups that simply pass-through an area. Then change it up every so often - take advantage of that 'always-on.'
BUT, the current quick spawns could just be a beta thing. To allow that sort of farming since you don't have the rest of the story missions to 'naturally' level.
