<u.1:3.7> Stick to the lowlands and stay away from scrap.
<u.1:3.8> We knew this.

So by avoiding tech, the chum of the Fallen, survivors of the cataclysm were able to make their way to Last City safety. Leads me to believe we may see holdouts of humanity in the wild at some point.
