Not working in Safari 8.0 :(
by Ragashingo , Official DBO Cryptarch, Tuesday, September 02, 2014, 10:32 (3742 days ago) @ GrimBrother IV
It just stays on the initial close up view of earth with the pulsing volume logo. Never starts the narration or zooms out to the planets... Am I too far on the cutting edge?! :p

Broken in 7.0.6 too.
Fail. Moving on.
Works in Safari 7.0.4; plug-ins turned off.

Looks like it uses WebGL which I believe is not enabled in Safari by default.

Since it's a Google experiment site, those sites usually don't work on non-Chrome browsers. It sucks, but it's a good advertisement for Google services too. I'm sure Bungie/Activision and Google are mutually benefiting from the site.

Interestingly, it works great on my iPad! Also there's some Safari version checks in the html... I think this is more likely a bug. :(

Huh, that's very interesting! I suppose it is. Are you using Safari or Chrome on your iPad? That's crazy that it would work on Mobile Safari but not Safari 8.0.

Safari. The interface is a bit simplified and you don't get that first zoom out to the planet selection but the whole thing is just a custom Google map and that SHOULD work just about anywhere...

I didn't think it was working and I was in Chrome - turns out it just took a long time to load and it eventually worked.

I can get to the view with multiple planets on Chrome . . . but then it just sits there. Am I supposed to be able to click on things? Use arrow keys? No indication of what I am supposed to do.

You should be able to click on the planets or their names to go into a "street view" of the explorable area in the game.
When I first attempted, it would zoom into the planet and fade to white, hang for a moment, fail to load it, and I'd appear back at the start screen.
Closing Chrome, turning off Extensions, and reloading (it still takes a few seconds to load) the page seemed to help and I was then able to explore.

Mr. Narrator on Venus just said that the Vex are protecting structures that Golden Age archeologists found! Brings up a few choice quotes from the good ole signal_received image:
You see history hidden between the barren rocks and within the high acid clouds. You see ruin emerging from where it has alwasy been, ready to claim its birthright.
One face is blistered, the other plunged into a brutal chill. Is this how it's always been?
You remember hot oceans, nourishing atmosphere. But something transpired, kicked what was wet and fertile into space, stealing away everything of value. Or perhaps what thrived her for a day or for ten million years decided to leave, peeling its wet organics off the bones.
A name offers itself, and another, and a thousand more.
The answer feels like the iron heart of a collapsed star, and your realize that the union between the past and the future is now
It seems important, even critical, to tell every star from here to the black between the galaxies that you are strong again.
I've kinda been operating under the assumption that we were it in our solar system until The Traveler and other races came. What if that's wrong?! Are we transgressing on owned worlds? Did something happen in our solar system to make someone flee? Could these ancient, non-human ruins be from The Traveler's people? Or the Darkness? The Vex seem to know what's up and I'd bet good money that The Darkness does too!

I was thinking that he meant post-collapse archeologists studying golden age artifacts.

They say the greatest minds of the Golden Age gathered here and discovered ruins older than humanity itself: the same ruins the Vex now protect. Hopefully it was worth it— the discovery may have cost them their lives.
That's one of the quotes from Venus, fairly certain that it indicates that someone or something else was here first.

"You’ve discovered one of three rare spaceships—the Crypt Hammer— available only on PlayStation consoles. The Crypt Hammer is a deep-strike insertion variant, built to carry Guardians safely through contested space.
SHARE YOUR DISCOVERY WITH #DESTINYONPS4"
I try to just ignore the PS only stuff, but man it keeps smacking me in the face.
