All that trailer told me about Destiny was "Play with 2 people, expect bad voice actors"

In the end It felt like a reject action movie compressed down with an expensive song licensed in.

Delivered seriously? I thought the entire mood and atmosphere was lighthearted fun. The Guardians were not afraid of these particular adventures, they were enjoying themselves.

The conversation before jumping into the pit is almost exactly like the ones I have with my brother before entering impending doom in a game.

Yeah it's not really a matter of money to Led Zeppelin. The only other two times they've licensed their music that I am aware of: the filmmaker was basically the only one who reviewed their music favorably when he worked for Rolling Stone, and in School of Rock because Jack Black literally filmed a video begging them to let them use it.

It was used in a few movies like School of Rock and Shrek 3. There's been a couple of commercials with Zeppelin songs the last 10 years or so. I think Page might have lightened up a little on licensing.

Damn straight!

Meh. The ODST one was better than I remember it but it's not my favorite by any means. I don't much like the Reach making a spartan commercials either.

My favorites:

Deliver Hope - Nice because it is directly linked to the game and there was a lot of neat stuff going on in the background during Kat's run.

Starry Night - Just awesome + bubble shield!

Prepare to Drop - Great setup for the game, some neat bits flash by on the Super's readouts, and the music. Especially the music.

Though really, I'm not sure anything can ever beat:

The Halo 2 we got was really good, but the one where Earth was really under attack and I was going to jump into space and begin saving Humanity by fighting my way through a Covenant ship in orbit? Yeah, but I still expected a bit more that "Law of the Jungle" feel...

It has the tone of not the game's fiction, but the game's feel.

It is fun. It is exciting. It doesn't take itself that seriously.

It features LED ZEPPELIN, and not just LED ZEPPELIN, but it features a song from LED ZEPPELIN that makes the game cooler. The tone matches the fictional reality that, as a Guardian, this is your Valhalla.

And it made something that I didn't expect. It gave meaning to "Become Legend"

Bungie's tone that has been more somber and graceful made "Be Brave" make sense, but I never felt like "Become Legend" really fit. Legends aren't dutiful or selfless, they are a bit self concerning.

But this trailer delivers on that tone. They display the words Become Legend at the best scene in the trailer when the devil may care warlock dives headlong into the abyss.

Yup. I'm all for gravitas, but that pretty clearly wasn't the aim here. This trailer wanted to say "hey, this game is good for random shenanigans with your friends," and I think it pulled that off quite well. Also, the "classical music" bit, while a tad cheesy, clues in people who might not be familiar with Destiny that it's set in our world/race's future (as opposed to being about an alien race, or set in A Galaxy Far, Far Away).

Oh man, that brings back memories. I used to schedule my life around Halo CE. I remember just watching this trailer on loop waiting and loving the build up. I think this is why we are all so excited. This feels like the first time in a long time where Bungie can make a game without the restraints of time or money or Microsoft. We all hope that they can make another Marathon, or another Halo (or even Oni, but with multiplayer). Judging by the other games, "we aint seen nothing yet". After all if they are planning for this story to play out for a decade, weve still 8 years until we get to the *mindblown* climax.

Capes are fine, capes are great. I'm fine with having a hood, it could be great on its own. Having a hood won't protect you from anything but the sun and maybe the rain so it's completely superfluous with a helmet.
I can get behind redundancy, even, my Spartan in Reach had two knives because screw you I'm going to stab people. This isn't over-the-top redundancy like that, it's just mundane, pointless redundancy.
I really, really don't like that a hood and cape have to go together, and I really don't like that the hood and the helmet have to go together so you can't have the hood on in the Tower. I don't like the look plus you can't properly display your helmet that way and you don't get to have the hood-only look either.
It should be viable to just have the hood, we're strong, capable, armored fighters who can be resurrected at the drop of a hat (and may or may not have shields, going by competitive multiplayer). I could really get into the hooded look, but it's not properly available.
I hope against hope that we'll get some option to turn the hood on and off, or that the hood will only appear in the Tower when we don't have a helmet, because otherwise I'll only ever equip capes when I'm going to be in the Tower for while because I don't want to look like a complete idiot, and that would take away from one of my favorite things about being a Hunter (and there are very few things about being a Hunter that aren't my favorites).

I do agree with the bit about in the tower. I would like to be able to have my hood up in the tower.

I think you're missing one very important aspect of what a hood can protect you from -- being seen/recognized. One of the main reasons I will be rolling Hunter primarily is the stealthy theme. Even with a helmet on, a hood can help you seem more mysterious and unrecognizable. I personally don't think a hood over a helmet looks silly, but I also have no issue with the fact that you do -- so I guess having that option would be cool.
