Basically the only conditions is that you would have to buy the game digitally, and can't be used cross platform family.

This is a really good idea. It could be even better by being valid forever, and by allowing you mail in and trade your disc version. Still, hard to complain. Hopefully this will help alleviate some of the player scattering in the long run.
