Sounds like what we hoped the boss fights would be like, but it's a whole raid. Looking forward to trying it out.

I just started watching some. It looks pretty hard. Definitely a lot more complicated than any of the story or strike fights.

I'm going from memory here:

1. To open the Vault you need to raise a spire by activating three plates simultaneously. They are like a territory in that you need to be on them to have control, and if an enemy controls a plate then the process has to start again from the beginning.

2. There's a templar boss that you can't damage right away. He looks like a hydra but his shield is all around him. The fight starts with vex sacrificing themselves, and if enough do then you die. When they die they poison the ground, and if you are poisoned you are marked. The templar runs a ritual every so often, and anyone marked will die instantly when the ritual is performed. You can cleanse yourself of the mark in a circle of light, but it looks like it's limited use.

2.1 Next, oracles will spawn. You can tell when because you her musical tones. You have to kill them immediately, or else they will mark you like the poison. First one spawns, then 2 and 3. Snipers are all around the area making it tough.

2.2 After killing the oracles enough times, a relic drops. Whoever picks it up cannot drop it. If it's dropped, the entire fireteam will die if it isn't picked back up in a few seconds. The relic is a shield with a cool melee attack that does a lot of damage, and it can cleanse you of a mark. Its super can drop the shields of the templar, enabling you to damage him. Oracles continue to spawn, and will mark you if not dealt with. You need to spread everyone out to cover all the oracle spawns while avoiding the vex and the boss. The boss activates enrage after a certain amount of time, which causes more vex to spawn and more oracles to spawn. It's nasty, but we managed to kill him before he became enraged.

3. Next you'll make a huge jump off a cliff and land in a valley between two big rock formations. Down here are several loot chests, however the area is patrolled by Gorgons, which if they see any member of your fireteam, will cause an instant wipe. You have to sneak past. We found two loot chests and I got some legendaries and an OP exotic sniper. Hunter's cloak works to avoid the gorgons, but ultimately everyone needs to make it through the caves.

4. There are a series of platforms that materialize and disappear, which you just have to memorize to jump across.

5. Next is a pretty tough fight. There are two portals, which you open by activating the sync plates like to open the first door. You have to hold the plates to keep the portal open. A group must hold the plate, the rest go through the gate and defeat a gatekeeper, grab the relic, and go back through the portal. If the portal is closed at any time with someone on the other side, they are lost in time and everybody wipes. After returning, everyone has a black screen which can be cured with the relic.

5.1 After the first relic is gotten, you have to do the same thing with the second portal, however this time Minotaurs walk down to sacrifice themselves, and if two or three do then you all wipe. You've got to put one group defending the plate to keep the portal open, one group taking out the minotaurs, and one group going through the portal. Oh, and there are tons of Vex everywhere.

6. After doing this, is the final boss. This is where we got stuck, but the boss will teleport the three closest people to him into an alternate dimension. In it, oracles spawn really fast and will mark you quickly. If you're marked everybody wipes. Killing oracles in the pocket universe will let you do more damage to the boss. To get out, the players back in the boss fight have to hold a sync plate to open the corresponding portal. There are two, one which leads to a desert, the other a jungle. You need to let players know asap where you are so they can open you portal. The boss then spawns suicide level 28 harpys that are really annoying.

Sound like fun? It is.

Was that a good mix? What would you recommend?

More titans. Defender is great. I'd say 2 of each class is ideal.

…I just hope I get to (eventually).

Raiding was something I always wanted to do back in my WoW-playing days, but I was never able to get enough people or time to do it, so I was stuck doing 5-man dungeons. I think I raided exactly twice as a fill-in, and never got to see any final bosses. The Raids were a huge amount of content that I was unable to access, which I found very disappointing.

I'd really love to have that NOT be the case for Destiny!

Weekend Raid

We'd like to run it until we finish.

You won't finish your first time. It took the team who first finished the raid 11 hours to complete it. We made it to the final boss in about 6 before getting tired and deciding to resume later.

Unless you are crazy dedicated, I'd recommend multiple sessions.
