Ridge Racer 7's box points out that it is "the first great next-gen racing game." It knows that it's as next-gen as it gets! It's practically more next-gen than the Dreamcast! What's my point?
Well, have you seen Destiny's loading screens? You see spaceships flying around doing nothing outside of going from place to place. There's no interactivity. Nothing.
To be truly next-gen, Ridge Racer 7 knew that it needed interactive load screens, which is why it allows you to play Xevious while you wait for things to happen.
That Destiny's load screen is not a side-scrolling shmup is a catastrophic failure on Bungie's part to make a game suitable for this era of gaming.
