So err... I have a Legendary Chest Piece and Helmet.. Is there any reason to do the Queens Kill Order ever again?

Umm.. This game confuses me.

I have yet to earn any additional armor pieces, but there are some other rewards from the Kill Orders.

I got The Supremacy, a legendary sniper rifle, and I've heard there's a ship you can get as well?

Depends if you want armour with different stat focuses or not.

For example, I've got 3 different Queens Guard Helmets:
1 focused on Intellect and Discipline
1 focused on Intellect and Strength
1 focused on Discipline and Srength.

I forget what the bonus things were but they varied a bit. I've also got a couple of different chest pieces. Not entirely sure what kind of builds I'm going to use them for but I have them now so I don't need to buy any from the factions.

Is the max light on Queen's gear that of a normal legendary, or is it equivalent to raid gear / exotics?

Normal

I got a ship from one run. I was getting tons of Ascendant shards out of all the gear you got, but yeah, other than winning queen's favor, there's not a whole lot of incentive to run the kill strikes other than having fun replaying missions with skulls... Which is still fun.

No. You can't get materials anymore, and the missions are just random story missions you've played before.

What sense does it make that one of the Queen's kill orders is to kill the Vex gate lord, which you ALREADY DID in the story mode?

Here I was naively thinking that we'd be killing NEW enemies, in new places. These types of 'content' updates aren't going to sustain your game for ten years…

I must admit...

I was let down by the Queen's Wrath. I was hoping it would explore the story and provide some context around the Reef and it's enemies. Nope.

I must admit...

by CougRon, Auburn, WA, USA, Thursday, September 25, 2014, 18:29 (3723 days ago) @ rliebherr

I was hoping that some of the targets would be some of the out of the way enemies that you don't encounter unless you go looking for them. For instance there is this one really strong Knight in Old Russia on the Forgotten Shore when you stroll down in the the basement of where you find the second Rasputin Transmitter. Anyone who has gone Ghost hunting has probably encounterd him since one of the dead ghosts is in there with him, but anyone who doesn't explore every nook and cranny is likely to know he's there.

I know of at least three such enounters like this in Old Russia but haven't explored as much in the other worlds to know if there is any in them, other then this one I found in Venus that got me killed real good and haven't gone back to.

Opposite, but now agreement

I was super excited, and I was having a lot of fun. It's like Bungie made their grind machine frustrating, but then they had these nice little treats of events where all of a sudden you can get your Legendaries by doing this stuff. It's like they knew that the grind sucked and that certain materials are basically impossible to get, so they gave you this limited time to do this. And if you have all of this Legendary stuff, you get Ascendant Shards, which are seriously near impossible to get in this game. And then they undo the only thing making this worth while.

I got every single Queen's Wrath bounty the past few days (except the one with the Shader requirements that I wasn't leveled up to get yet). I played a ton of Queen's Wrath missions. Know how many bounties and such I've done with that today? You guessed it. Zero. Not worth my time anymore. The Raid is my only goal right now. Then I think I can go the Cody route and put Destiny down for a while, give or take Crucible. The grind isn't rewarding anymore.

There's no way this sustains for 10 years, and while Bungie is super happy with what they've seen the past few weeks, and while they feel like they're in a good place and that this is staying steady, CoD and Halo are on the November horizon, and this game is in for a real shock.

This is probably why they included the Expansion Pass with the special versions of the game. If players already have access to the DLC, they are more likely to try it. Force everybody to buy it fresh, and you run the risk of lack of interest from either boredom, or from competition from other games.

I imagine both Bungie and Activation will be watching how big the uptick is in December very closely.

Did you really think that?

Yes. I figured all those areas in the Cosmodrome that we never went to would have some of the targets.

Like I said, it was naive. As of now it looks like Bungie has sunk to the low of on disc (in BETA!) DLC, assuming those areas are utilized in the DLC packs.

Funny thing is, people broke into those area during the beta...so the player-base has actually already seen much of what is potentially meant to be paid content. If that's the case...well, I dunno, it's going beyond even EA's level of BS.

Everything Activision touches...

If this were any other game, I would still have been optimistic about the potential DLC utilizing the new areas. Even if I had seen the geometry there I would be excited as to how the encounters would play out, or excited about new story elements.

Seeing how Destiny's encounters play out though, I imagine it will be identical to the encounters we have seen so far, just with different art around you. And obviously, there is nothing to suggest that there would be new story elements.

I'm still waffling with my decision to get the DLC or not. One day I want to play it, and one day I don't care. I'll just have to wait until it release and see if I'm interested.

I don't think there is anything wrong with putting destiny aside until then. I played pretty much non stop for the first few days. I'm not doing that anymore.

New places would have been nice

Indeed - I was hoping for something in the Bunker area or some new public event activity...anything other than kill the same boss guy again.

YEAH. MAYBE THE DURATION OF THE EVENT IS SO PEOPLE WHO ARE OUT OF TOWN OR HAVE OTHERWISE BEEN UNABLE TO PLAY HAVE A CHANCE TO DO IT.

For Pete's sake.

You're not missing anything now that they ruined the event. You already have Legendary stuff. You get no more Ascendant Shards. You seriously have no need to even touch the bounties or this thing now.

That's like saying there's no reason to Patrol since the Loot Cave was shut down. Obviously this stuff was not intended for Shard farming.

In other words, nothing was ruined, --per design, there was no reason for you to do the event in the first place. Instead, a goof up gave you an unintended benefit. :D

I'd like to do it, for fun and maybe for using the armor in the future.

Yeah this is how I feel too. The shards were a nice side benefit, but the missions with the modifiers are so much more fun! I am still finishing them even after they dropped the shard farming from it.

I'm glad you're having fun. I can't do it. I'm getting more enjoyment through playing through the general missions and helping buddies continue to beat the game or going into Crucible. The Queen's Bounty stuff had a lot of benefits, but now it's just a grind to me. I'm going to have to pass on the rest of this alleged event. :P

Uniquely-colored Legendary weapons... The "Merciless" Hand Cannon's pretty neat, IMO, and it's faster to level up the queen than the Vanguard, it seems, so you get stuff a bit faster. Of course, if you want legendary weapons just handed to you, you can always go back to complaining about the loot drop system...

Oh Trollymunky, you so funny. I haven't done much complaining about the loot system beyond my pure bafflement at how everyone else seems to be in good favor with the RNG! I also don't want Legendary stuff. I just want Ascendant Shards, good sir. :P

At the point I am at now, Legendary armor pieces from anywhere but the Vault of Glass are useless. I think maybe Bungie messed up a bit by making the raid gear so much better than anything else by virtue of the extra light upgrades.

I've got shards, but that's the reason I haven't used them. What's the point until I get the raid armor? Do I get those shards back if I scrap the armor I used them on?

You get shards for dismantling Legendary gear, usually about 3. It may be less than what you put into it, but hey, resale value and all that...

Each upgrade takes 6, and I get 3 back if I scrap it, so there's no big reason to do the last 3 upgrades until I get the raid armor then. I'll lose out on some defense in the meantime, but with the rarity of shards I would rather just wait.

I regularly do lvl.28 missions, and the only gear that I have upgraded with Shards are my Sunbreaker gauntlets, because I'm certain those are here to stay. Assuming you can avoid sustained gunfire, un-upgraded armor should hold you for a good long while... Until the Iron Banner, of course, but you should have some Raid gear by then, no? ;)
