I think it's kind of random. I understand there's a pool of Raid gear that it dishes out from, though I may be wrong on that.

I really hope beating Atheon will give me something on there. Nothing bu Ascendant Shards from every chest so far :/
Though I have to admit, I'm not really jealous of the weird Titan underwear DBO Charlie Fireteam got..

I sorta expected more for completing the Vault of Glass.
I was a little disappointed with the shader and legendary scout rifle I got. Not getting any raid armor throughout the whole raid was really a let down. To get to level 30, I've still got to finish this thing a minimum of three more times. And that's only if I get a raid armor piece each time.
At least, with the right group, the raid should be completable within in an hour or two. But, GAH! Not having a guaranteed raid armor piece is frustrating.

Helmets only drop in hard mode. So unless you have an exotic helm, you will be stuck at <30 if you don't raid on hard.

1. The last-boss rewards are not the only ones you receive
2. There are chest hidden throughout the Vault of Glass
3. Completing it is it's own reward.

My team of 25-27 couldn't even get in last night.
We are not worthy.
I had so much fun, some of them were cursing and swearing they will never play again. I think I need a void fusion rifle of 260 dmg plus and I'm good for whatever portal I am on.
It feels like Legendary, in the lift room of truth and reconciliation, but made for co-op.
Opening that thing is awesome. I love it. Hope I can sync up for it again (But with erratic play times, I think I need better social/tools to do so. I can see why MM might be a bad idea though when even friends can barely communicate well enough to open the thing).
