Small to start with. Keep it simple, materials.

One of the most tedious things in the game for me is collecting Spinmetal, Helium Filaments, Relic Iron and Spirit Bloom.

So how about we can just trade these until a descent non-abusable system is put in place.

And how to prevent this being abused? Simple, you can only trade and receive exactly what you need.

First you can only mark one item to receive a trade material for with a click of a thumbstick or something (option to select Ascendant materials if this idea works!).

Then you do the same with only one type of Materials you can part with.

So you walk up to another player in the Tower, Inspect them. Here you will see what they need to upgrade their selected armour, but you can only exchange the same amount. So if I wanted 16 Helium Filaments for my Arm, but he only needed 12 Relic Iron for his Helmet, we can only trade 12 despite me having more Iron than that.

I think this would be a good way to help stop abusing the system as you are limited to what you need rather than what you want.

This could be used with Ascendant material also, but as these items are so rare, Im not going to say go for it until I read all the replies to this thread telling me how flawed my idea is :)

Dir Sir, I commend your for your brilliant thinking and reasoning. This proposal makes complete sense to me and I'm impressed by your intellect! Thank you for sharing these fragments of wisdom that you have gotten from grinding away in the game! Sometime in the future I will surely think back to this moment, and it will save my life. Yours truly... hahaha I replied first, loooool!

I'm not sure if companies are allowed to use unsolicited suggestions. It's a legal nightmare! With game designs/scripts at least, I know the responsible ones send straight to the shredder.

Does this mean anything original we suggest cannot ever be used?

Which sucks as I'm sure we all have awesome ideas that will solve some poor producers nightmare.

Script/plot-wise it would be copyright issues. But you can't copyright ideas - you'd have to apply for a patent, and you'd only get one if it had a genuine inventive step. 'firefight plox' wouldn't count. So, I don't know why there'd be any issues there.

Well then Bungie is in trouble, because shortly after I suggested how to fix engram decoding they announced they were going to do exactly what I suggested.

:-p

On a serious note, it's only a problem if it can be copyrighted. Game mechanics can not, so unsolicited game design suggestions should be fine to use.

I agree; I would add consumables to this, maybe as a separate category still, but yeah, trading materials and consumables of the same rarity measure for measure sounds like a great place to start.
