I think it's a funny, and a bit sad to see people saying they "earned" their Ice Breaker through an engram.
Earn, verb \ˈərn\ - To acquire through merit.
If you think having a random number generator give you an item is earning it, then I think you need to speak to Inigo Montoya. One could just as easily say that I earned my Ice Breaker because I got 19 strange coins from completing the weekly strikes, which took skill.
This type of delusion is what perpetuates player investment systems.
