Exotic bounty randomness is INFURIATING! (Destiny)
I've put in at least 200+ hours into Destiny (cant actually check this due to XBL being glitchy as fuck) and ive not received one exotic bounty.
Pretty much everyone I play with has been offered at least THREE! and yet im the black sheep that gets nothing in all the time ive been playing. its pissed me off to no fucking end knowing that my friends are discarding them because they need the slots for daily bounties.
WHAT THE HELL DO I HAVE TO DO?!??!
Yesterday I put TEN GOD DAMN BOUNTIES in, two set of five and still I get sweet FA.
All I want is something to do, something to aim for other than grinding the shit out of all the crap ive grinded since I hit level 20 for the same old dung over and over.
Jesus can someone tell me what im doing wrong, other than not putting this stupid ass RNG-FEST game on ebay?!?

According to the Destiny companion app, you've spent 83 hours online with your Male Titan, and 3 hours online with your Female one.
I'm only checking your primary Gamertag, so it's quite possible you've spent a bunch of time somewhere else, as well.
(To be fair, that's still more than twice the total time I've put in, and I just recently got my first exotic bounty (though I'm probably a couple of weeks from completing it).

It would be nice if there were a couple guaranteed ones...

It took me quiet awhile to get my first. Then I got the second one less than an hour later. Ended up getting a third one a few days later. I'm sitting at around 6 solid days of play time.
Not sure that helps?

Turn in multiple bounties at once, not one by one.

Welcome to Destiny.

Next time I'll write "what feels like 200+ hours" :)

I have done this multiple times, last night being the latest with two lots of 5. Nothing, nudda, zip..
I didn't play it all all last week but I thought I'd give it another try this week. Two days in and it's already pissing me off again. Can't wait for The Masterchief Collection, that's all I can say.

I've had a couple; I got Thorn and Super Good Advice.
It took me a while to get given an Exotic Bounty; and then I got those two quite close together. Now though, I haven't had another for a while.
I'm holding out to get The Last Word.
I'm a massive fan of Hand Cannons in this game; but I'm yet to get HC above Legendary (except thorn - which I'm not crazy about as it just plays...weird).

I don't often turn in multiples. I still got a bunch.
Just hope to get one at some point, I guess.

I've played about 90 hours with my warlock (more than you). I got my first exotic bounty today.
Can't relate to the nothing to aim for feeling. I've got the other problem. So many things to aim for that I don't know where to focus my energy. One thing I never aim for, though, is for the RNG to be nice for me. Saves me from a lot anger.

I've gotten nine, but always for the same three guns...

Still random though. I've had 4 in about 123 hours, though really that was probably when I was around 90 or so. Trashed one because it was the same 3 I already did and they take so long. Some kind of influnece or something might be nice, but whatever. Most of the bounty Exotics aren't too amazing.
Korny probably had a lot with his million exotics though.

I've got 107 hours, and I've had 4 drop. If it is any consolation the Queen only dropped the hemet for me and I ran that probably a dozen times trying to get the spaceship. For me it seemed to be tied to my vanguard rank, nothing dropped till rank 3, and then at rank 4, 5 and 6 I seemed to get one shot some time shortly after each.

When you say you turned in a "set" of bounties, did you mean all at once? The only exotic bounties I have gotten have been when I spammed the A button turning in 3 bounties at once. I . . . assume this nothing to do with it, but I'm a little superstitious now.

Just out of curiosity, with 90 hours put in, what are you aiming for now? Just having fun in the Crucible or something?
Exotic bounty randomness is INFURIATING!
I've only been given two at this point, and one of them is still sitting there because they require some obnoxious grinding to complete. I scrapped the other one because it was even more obnoxious. I think the thing my current one wants me to do is beat 25 Strikes. Yeah, eventually I'll do that I'm sure. The reward isn't worth the time or effort.
Don't feel bad I have yet to get a exotic drop.

Same boat. Nothing for me.

I'm a 27.
I treat the Crucible as practice. I suck at it, so I don't care about winning. Every kill is a victory for me, even postmortems, which are the most consistent kills I get. I do like control and salvage, because I can be a decent defender at times. I'm hoping to be better once I get the invective shotty, maybe even venture into the Iron Banner. I recently hit gold tier on my own against a fallen walker, so I'm trying to get gold tier solo when I have the opportunity. The kill the target events are tough, though!
I've got weapons and armor to upgrade. I'm not happy with my helmet, so I'm hoping to get something I like eventually. I want to get to Vanguard 3. I want an exotic fusion rifle. I'd like to take that on a Raid and shoot oracles with it.
What I'm enjoying the most right now is strikes and story missions, which is what I've always liked. On lower difficulties I'm really exploring. Otherwise, I'm just trying new things, harder difficulties, and speed runs. I like bounties where I have a target. I used to try to kill everything, but now I try to get in and out, like a ninja.
There are many gold chests I haven't gotten yet, and no doubt plenty of ghosts, so I treat patrols like mapping missions, too, where I try to see every inch of terrain. Cuts down on the need to "farm," too.
I'm treating the investment system like a mini-game, and try to put most of my thought into what I'm going to do most efficiently up front, so it's in kind of set it and forget it mode while I play. Also, I'm treating my warlock as the patriarch of a family, and he is setting aside gifts to bequeath to his wife and daughter once they are ready.
One day our time will come my friend!

Got my 3rd exotic bounty
And I don't use ANY of the weapons I've gotten from them. Farming strange coins to buy guns from Xur is a more reliable option that so far has resulted in far superior weapons.
Question for people who have gotten a few:
Do you equip Weapons and Armour that need upgrading before you turn in bounties? This is something I always do but I'm thinking perhaps if you are fully maxed on all held items, the exotic might trigger. Maybe there is a hidden XP counter and the bounties go towards that when it's not going towards anything else.

Question for people who have gotten a few:
Yep. I do what you do.

Question for people who have gotten a few:
All my exotic bounties popped up while I was still upgrading armor (I know this because none of my characters has maxed out armor yet!) and almost completely certain that none of them had all three weapons they were holding maxed out. I think it's just random luck to be honest. :(

Question for people who have gotten a few:
I agree with the other two who have responded to this. I had one pop up just yesterday when I turned a few in, and I most definitely had items equipped that were not maxed out. Still upgrading lots of things.
I think Cody's idea that you need to turn in more than one at a time might be correct. I was turning in 3 at once when it happened yesterday. I'll have to start paying more attention and see if it ever happens with single bounties.
Exotic bounty randomness is INFURIATING!
Nice. I'm pretty much doing the same I suppose, still collecting Ascendant materials for armor and guns. Though I'm playing less crucible/IB :P

Question for people who have gotten a few:
I always equip items that need experience before turning in bounties. If I'm maxed in a slot, I'll equip a blue or green I plan on scrapping so I get more materials out of it.
In all cases where I got an exotic bounty, I got it when I was turning in 4 bounties. The first time, I got it on the 4th turn-in, the second time on the third, and the most recent time on the first bounty I turned it. In all cases the bounties were all vanguard bounties (PvE). I'd guess that you don't need to turn in 4 at once to get them, since I got one on my first turn in, just that people notice them more often when turning in multiple bounties because you have 4 or 5 chances to get an exotic bounty versus 1 chance.
They may have to be PvE bounties though - any ever get an exotic bounty from a PvP bounty turn-in?

Question for people who have gotten a few:
Like the others, I have gotten Exotic Bounties even with non-maxed gear.
Unlike the others, I'm not certain it has to be multiple bounties at once; I think I got one when just turning in a single bounty. (IIRC, that bounty levelled me up in Vanguard rep... for a while I thought that's what determined when you got an Exotic.) FYI I'm runnning both my 4th and 5th bounties right now; got the fusion rifle one a couple of weeks ago and ever since FRs have gained a new frequence rating of Hens' Teeth.

I agree, although I think I did turn in three at once when I got mine. I think it'd be hard to tell if the number of bounties turned in at once has an impact in that if it's random, then of course your odds are better when you turn in three items because it's like three "spins of the wheel."
As an aside, I've mostly tended to go back to the tower after each successful bounty with the thought that this gives me more opportunities to upgrade stuff. Does that make sense to anyone else?

I wouldn't say you actually get more upgrades out of it. The reason I tend to turn in right away is that I don't want to delay that first upgrade - then when I go to do the rest of my bounties, I'll have slightly better equipment to do it with.
