Goofy Warlock Bond Glitch (long, possibly inane)... (Destiny)

by Penthesilean, Monday, October 13, 2014, 17:00 (3932 days ago)

I tried getting an answer to this over at Bungie, but their forums are like watching a sewage drain back up and overflow. While people dance in it.

Legendary bonds sold by the Speaker:

I bought Ulan-Tan's Burial Ring way back, and have noticed something annoying. In the Speaker's inventory preview pic, the energy color emanating from it is bright yellow/gold. And that's usually what it shows as when I have it equipped. But now and then, it will instead project an ugly, muddy sort of blood-red/orange color.

This 'glitch' isn't specific to the item I bought. When it's displaying on my character correctly, I can go to the Speaker, and all of his bonds for sale will also display correctly in the preview window. By that I mean, the projected energy color in the character preview will match the color in the little inventory window. But if my bond is glitched and displaying the ugly red/orange color, and I go to the Speaker and view his items, none of the energy colors for the bonds in the character preview will match what they show in his little inventory pics. For instance, the Five Rings of Albios shows a brilliant silver/white color in the inventory pic, but shows up as ugly green in the character preview.

This 'glitch' comes and goes. Yesterday, the Seal of the Twin Eagle was correctly displaying its pink aura in the character preview, which matches the inventory pic. But today, it's showing as a weird orange color, conflicting with the pink in the inventory pic.

I know this is a lot of info many will find pointless, but it's irritating the hell out of me (customization / cosmetics are a big deal to me). I bought the Five Rings today anyway, hoping it will 'sort itself out' (like my Ulan-Tan does) and display silver energy correctly. It does now, but only about half the time. I thought maybe the off-color was tied to something in-game, like completing bounties or something. But I haven't noticed any trigger or pattern between working correctly, and glitching.

Has anybody noticed this?

Time of Day?

Could it depend on the time of day at all? Just a random guess.

Me and Beorn did. We were unsure if it's a glitch or if it might be a feature... Our guess was that it's either reacting to the time of day and picking up on the ambient lighting in odd and interesting ways, or maybe it could be linked to how close you are to leveling up or some such thing that only comes close to happening every once in a while. Of course, it might also just be a bug as you've guessed.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but others have definitely noticed it!

Possibly This

I've seen numerous posts asking about this over on the reddit and most people are thinking it has something to do with the time of day. Now weather that's linked to the location, server time, or player timezone, I have no idea. I'm no Warlock, yet.

I've seen it change on Beorn's arm right in front of me

No idea what triggered it, but I definitely saw it going from soft yellow to orange. Kermit was there too, I think.

Well that's just....agh. This is annoying me a lot more than it should.

I'm going to start keeping a record of everything I can think of to try and pin it down. Time of day, Experience level, etc....maybe something will make sense after a while. I'm pretty sure ambient lighting has nothing to do with it, due to the instances it has happened for me.

Thanks, guys.

I have seal of the twin eagle, and as far as I can tell it is time of day that causes the color change; it goes from bright orange at night to purple neon during the day. It changes instantly sometimes from planet to planet; if it's night when I leave the tower, heading to daytime venus, it will go from Orange to Purple instantly if I watch the inventory screen during travel/loading time.

I think Vianney Halter would disagree.

Wow, that was one of the most annoying videos I can remember. I just wanted to see what the damn watch looked like. In 90 seconds, that NEVER really happened. :(

Who the hell thought that was a good way to showcase that thing?

Welcome to every watch video ever. Here's a better one.

...is the same thing the Speaker has in his area. right?

Awesome thought. Craziest thing about that watch is it's a fully automatic movement. No battery or hand wind making that happen, just the natural motion of the watch swinging around on your wrist throughout the day.

THAT was great. Thanks!
