The Last Word is wrong. (Destiny)

Not wrong in the fun department. It is absolutely my favorite weapon in Destiny, and now that I have it almost fully upgraded, it is devastating in close to mid range.

To explain what's wrong, I'm going to define a couple of firearm terms, single action and double action. 99.9% of revolvers operate on one of these two actions.
- Single action: The hammer is manually cocked with your thumb. Cocking the hammer advances the cylinder to the next round. When you pull the trigger, it releases the hammer, which fires the round. To fire the next shot, you need to manually cock the hammer again. "Single action" refers to the trigger pull only performing one action: releasing the trigger.
- Double action: Pulling the trigger cocks the hammer, which advances the cylinder, and then releases the hammer at the end of the trigger pull. "Double action" refers to the trigger pull performing two actions: Cocking the hammer and releasing it. The hammer can be manually cocked with your thumb, but a trigger pull is still required to fire the gun.

The Last Word's signiture firing mode is fan fire. "Fanning" is an old trick shooting technique where one hand holds the trigger while the other hand slaps the hammer repeatedly. You see this in a lot in westerns where they're shooting something like a Colt Dragoon or Single Action Army. In the game I just hold down the trigger and it keeps firing until it is empty.

Fan firing can only be performed on single action revolvers.

You may have noticed on all other handcannons that if you pull the trigger slightly back you can see the hammer coming back and the cylinder rotating. That is a really great detail Bungie added. And it is correct because the hand cannons are double action.

Here's the problem: The Last Word is also double action. When I pull the trigger the hammer comes back. At the very end of the pull my left hand comes on screen and slaps the hammer. You can not fan fire a double action. It requires a trigger pull each time to fire.

So anyway, 0/10, preorder cancelled, all that jazz. :P
