I've finished Destiny. Despite what Bungie says, you can.
I've done the raid on normal and hard.
I've done the story missions on level 28.
I've done every strike as nightfall. (Except Dust Palace!)
That's it, it's over. There is nothing left to do.
What now? I will still be around to play raids, especially on hard now that folks are getting to that point (we will see how tomorrow goes). I will still play crucible. I will do the daily story every time I play since I need Ascendant Energy and keep getting shards. That's it though.
It's finally over. It's like a weight has been lifted. I'm very happy knowing there is no more grind until December at the earliest.

so you've gotten all three classes (and their subclasses) maxed out,
You have full rep with all factions,
Acquired every Exotic weapon and armor,
Beaten every mission and have full raid gear with each class,
Found all of the ghosts,
And have every single Trophy?

No, all that shit is stupid and not the fun part of the game.

So you admit you haven't finished Destiny. You've merely done what you'd consider the "fun" part of the game, which is a massive part, apparently, and over a hundred hours of gameplay. A glowing review, I'd say...

You can set arbitrary goals for any game so that nobody can 'complete' it. Oh, you haven't broken every brick in Mario? Didn't finish it. You say you haven't split Knights of the round 7 times so all characters have it? Haven't finished FFVII. Go play Mass Effect with every type of face, male and female, making all permutations of decisions.
Yeah right.

"That's it, it's over. There is nothing left to do."
I think Korny is just making the point that there are things left to do, not that the game has been completed. If you've done all the things you have done still want to play, there are some options for you. Whether or not those are enjoyable or worth your time are totally up to you.

You're right, there is stuff to do. I would say though that there are no new challenges to undertake.

I just said I would be. Crucible, raids when they happen, and probably the nightfall stuff. Did you read my post?

So you've finished it after untold hours but still enjoy replaying certain parts? So like a Halo game that took you 10 times longer to finish?
I know you post your well thought out criticism here in order to effect change to this or future titles but I'm not sure what the value is in that statement other than "I played a lot of Destiny and didn't really enjoy it but will keep playing and not enjoying it."
Everyone seems so disappointed, but it compares favorably to almost every game I own or have played regardless of issues. Was everyone expecting WoW levels of content or something? As if even a billion dollars could do that at the encounter and asset quality on show here?

By that measure, I finished with Halo in 3 weeks.

But Bungie didn't make the same ridiculous claims about Halo as they did for Destiny.

HA-hahahahahahaaaa!.... (Hit #36 of 168 for a search for "bungie sold out" in the year 2001.)
-- Steve may have been around too long & finally snapped. That, or the weight of experience suggests to him that some element of every fanbase will be alienated by whatever a game developer does.

Even though Halo wasn't all I imagined from the first article I read about it, I still must've spent over half a year playing the single player on and off, because it was good. But admittedly, I had more free time, less options, and lower standards. The industry has changed since then, maybe for the better, and Destiny did imply an awful lot that it didn't really deliver. At least if you felt optimistic about those early videos.
Well, okay, so maybe this is the issue. Destiny's loot system is set up with the _expectation_ of grinding the same content repeatedly, so it's not unrealistic for players to expect that that should also be worth doing for its own sake. But in my opinion, it isn't. Those cool weapons and armors that I saw in their videos? I will never, ever see those without investing way more time than I am willing to. It's like there's bait on the hook that looks tasty, but not enough for me to enjoy being caught and gutted.

Like most story-based games, I feel that (so far) Destiny's longevity potential is in the competitive multiplayer. Their attempts to change that, I don't find particularly compelling, with the exception of new content releases, of course. Myself, I've taken to just completing the quickest single player bounties each day - as long as I can do them in patrol so I don't have to listen to any story VO - and then switching to a different game.

Yeah, I hit a point a couple of weeks ago where all my characters had gear I was happy with. I still have some damage and defense upgrades to go but it's not something I'm focusing on since I'm not planning to do the Raid on hard mode. It's a nice feeling having the guns and armor I wanted. :)
