Red Death in PvE (Destiny)

Having recently unlocked the gun's signature ability, I have to say that for PvE is is FANTASTIC. The healing is instant and significant, and you can almost always pick off an enemy to get out of the red. I think it'd even be possible to forgo recovery upgrades for armor, since this thing heals you faster than points to recovery ever could.

It takes a while to get the feel for it, and hand canons can one shot a few types of enemies it can't, but you can stay farther back and out of the fray, making the healing buff that much better.

It's a sick gun.

In crucible, it's a 2 burst kill if all the bullets hit, which is rare. You tend to lose to ARs at close to mid, but mid to long beats the AR, and in my experience goes toe to toe with a scout rifle at any range besides very long.

Yeah, I agree, so far it's been the most useful primary exotic I've gotten. First time through the Raid it saved my life many many times.

Red Death in PvE

Oh man, I am jelly!

My only exotic primary is Bad Juju... seems to be great for trash with the instant reload but once enemies cannot be finished off with that tiny clip it become a little useless. Easy trash was already easy, though I guess there will be encounters where clearing everything fast without reload downtime will be very useful though my legendary hand cannon with reload perks/abilities seems to be just as good for that.

I love that thing.

Both in PvP and PvE. It's been my go-to gun... and this was BEFORE I unlocked it's ability.

But what about in PvP...

Being a huge pulse rifle fan I used The Strangers Rifle until I could buy Red Death for two weeks ago. Just yesterday I maxed its upgrades and I must say that I like it very much. The healing is godlike for PvE. I have also in general gotten better K/D ratio with it in PvP. However I find myself to lose quite a bit of medium to close fights with it. Mainly because I miss shots of course, and then the slow rate of fire is dooming me.

So yesterday I tried the Strangers again and boy it apparently makes it a lot easier to win fights. Also when I step into a room with more then one guardian it is easier, a lot easier to take down two or more with the strangers rapid fire. Its stability and range(!) is also superior to Red Deaths. So i am actually considering going back to the strangers for PvP and use red death for PvE. I did compare The Strangers with fair and square and strange suspect at the crucible quartermaster and it seems like the Strangers Rifle beat those two also in what matters in PvP. Only Bad Seed Down at the vanguard is a tiny bit better.

When I play with Red Death I feel that I got to adopt my way of playing more. I have to stay more back, and cannot be that aggressively. Being an exotic I think Red Death should stand out more (in PvP)….
