Little idea for Atheon communication post-patch *Raid SP* (Destiny)
Post 1.0.2.3 patch, a random selection of players are taken into the future/past in the final fight with Atheon. Getting the Relic picked-up quickly is pretty important, so how about this:
- Assign everyone call-signs from Alpha to Foxtrot based on their proficiency/preference for holding the Relic.
- Alpha - Best with the Relic, will always take it if they are teleported
- Bravo, Charlie, Delta - can take the Relic if necessary, in order of preference
- Echo, Foxtrot - will never take the Relic, unless everyone else is dead
- Alpha - Best with the Relic, will always take it if they are teleported
- When the teleport happens, those that got teleported say their own call-sign over voice-comm.
- Only Alpha, Bravo & Charlie will say their call-sign
- Delta, Echo and Foxtrot will stay silent until the Relic holder is established to reduce radio noise.
- Only Alpha, Bravo & Charlie will say their call-sign
- Whoever has the highest priority (closest to Alpha) takes the Relic after the call-out.
- Alpha will always go straight for the Relic regardless.
- Bravo is listening only for Alpha's call out - otherwise they assume they're it
- Charlie listens for any callsigns being said besides their own. If they hear one, they're not it. If they're the only one talking, they grab the Relic.
- Delta listens for any call-sign. If they hear one, they're not it. If they don't hear any, they grab the Relic.
- Echo and Foxtrot ignore the Relic and start killing - assuming one of the top 4 are there.
- Alpha will always go straight for the Relic regardless.
Even when said close together, and overlapping, I think it should be possible to distinguish who is the highest priority. Players will also have the benefit of the sound of people's voice over modern game chat.
If the selection is now truly random (and I worked this out right) then when selecting 3 players from a pool of 6, there is:
- 50% chance for Alpha being Relic Holder
- 30% chance for Bravo,
- 15% chance of Charlie,
- 5% chance for Delta,
- 0% chance for Echo,
- 0% chance for Foxtrot.
It should totally be possible to get a string of teleports that all include Alpha. So that simplifies the Relic Holding part. Everyone else just needs to be more flexible about whether they're killing Supplicants or Oracles.
Any feedback? I'm far from an expert on this stuff.

I like this a lot.
Just checked, and your numbers are right too.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD
Seriously, though. What you described here is IDENTICAL to the method I have been working out for the past week, down to the Alpha/Bravo/Charlie code-names.
Spooky.

LOL
You basically almost completely nullified the added difficulty that random teleports would create. You could even just do multiple runs until you get Alpha, Alpha, Alpha on teleport if you REALLY only have one person who can relic. If you have two in your group who are good, then you're pretty much set.
So much for that idea Bungie :-p
FYI, for people who are wondering and saying the relic isn't hard, on Hard mode it's much much harder if you are 29 vs 30 with the relic. 30 you can survive a snipe from the hobgoblins. 29, you better have gunslingers there to deal with the enemies.
LOL
Well yeah, you were ALWAYS going to be able to just wipe until you got the sequence you want. Thats the nature of randomness. But now there's still an element of randomness that allows for adapting on the fly. Sounds like Bungie made a change that both makes the Raid more interesting if you're willing to learn/try, while still allowing those people who only want to do it one way to do so.

LOL

29 can also survive a snipe from the Hobgoblins. I was a 29 Shield holder at one point, and what we did was have the teammates shoot at the hobgolins real quick while I ran down the side to flank them as soon as they popped out of their armor lock. You'd be surprised at how well just a little bit of brains can help one achieve victory... So while nobody is saying that Relic isn't hard on Hard mode, I am saying that it's not that hard...
And that's not even the issue at hand, since we're talking about the vast majority who will only really do Normal runs...

Interesting. I find locking them to be worse, since you can't slam multiple ones at once. They shoot as the come out of stasis, and you risk getting shot twice. It seems much more effective to jump smash 2, and finish off the third.
The BEST is if you have two gunslingers. Then they are all dead before the first oracle appears.

On Normal, yes. It's better to sprint and slam. If you're a 28, you can kill all 3 with a single slam if you're lucky. Not so much if you're a 27. Same principle applies on Hard. You can't afford to be between them if you can't one-hit them. Better to activate their lock, which buys you time to get to them, and they'll be softened up... Assuming you don't have a Gunslinger popping them for you.

Better to save one gunslinger FOR the Oracles, to make up for the initial skirmish, unless you're on Right side, as you can't take any chances with that Praetorian.

What else would I use?
Angelina, Beyonce, Catherine?
I just used the NATO phonetic alphabet as I assume most people are vaguely familiar with it already.

i had the same thought, but was just going with numbering vs phonetic alphabet. Never bothered to do the math, thanks for sharing!
One, John, Salmon, Copper, Fire and Echo, obviously.

Tried this last night
Alpha OR Bravo, or Alpha AND Bravo were in every teleport group. We killed Atheon on normal without wiping after 4 teleports.
There were some WTF moments when people that had never done the teleport before got pulled through, but we told them throw their nades at the adds, and shoot the oracles. Also had one hiccup with cleansing, bc the new guy stayed at the top instead of gradually walking towards the portal as they killed oracles, but we managed to not wipe.
