Raid Clinic Day? (Destiny)

I wonder what this means? Maybe that Bungie is working solely on the raid today? Some kind of in-game event?

I'm guessing it means they're putting in a hot-fix to cure some of the bugs that the raid has been having (at a seemingly increasingly rate since the last "fix").

Well, one of the definitions of Clinic is:

a meeting during which a group of people learn about a particular thing or work on a particular problem

So....what problems would THOSE be, I wonder?

I never thought it would be anything else. I certainly didn't think this was their way of announcing a patch.

And, geez, the comments! The internet only knows one mode: extreme hyperbole. I'm not exaggerating when I say I HATE IT.

Buuuuuuuut, they really could have picked better wording. Bungie PR should know that the public discuss about the Raid is mostly about how various bugs need remedying.
So announcing a "clinic" is definitely not the right way to start posting strategy videos.

I don't know. I never had a doubt that they were teasing anything but strategies.

Fair enough. I think the majority of the internet didn't share that insight.

I was imagining either opening a new bug filing system for users, or just saying that they were teasing a new special event.

I didn't think that they would announce that devs were now seriously fixing bugs, but I didn't imagine it would be re-posting two other users' videos. At least some commentary by Bungie? Something.

I don't think they would want to associate the Raid with "bugs." And see, this just demonstrates how seeing the glass as half-empty is the internet way. I see a TTL video, and I see more evidence of how close Bungie is with the community. I know that TTL is Deej's community, and I know those guys were early testers of Destiny.

But yeah, the meaning of communication is the result you get, and among those commenting, the result looks pretty negative. I don't know why I'm surprised that most gamers commenting on the internet come across like entitled brats.

Bungie.org has spoiled me, I guess.

to me "clinic" = workshop or training, which is what they did.

On the topic of bugs, i thought it was funny that during their live stream yesterday, where TTL was playing the raid with Deej, they got hit with the templar detain bug. (where after you break open your detain shield, you still move ridiculously slow.)

Yeah, I think we can assume they know about the issues.

I suppose that is one way to look at it. On the other hand though, the major communicating Bungie has done about the Raid has been to release patches for it, talk about known bugs (random teleports) and their intent to fix them, and then occasionally laud how many people have tried it / completed it. The dialogue between Bungie and the community about the Raid includes discussion about its issues as well as its achievements. The internet, as a whole, will focus on the negative, and that sucks, but it is also something that Bungie is a aware of and is typically good at dealing with.

This really isn't a big deal at all, I think it just got my fur up because I feel that Bungie's communication execution has suffered greatly and this is another (albeit very minor) example. Communication in the game needs serious work and this choice of wording ended up confusing a lot of people. Should we have seen through it? Perhaps. But Bungie understands that its audience is varied, vitriolic, and likely to take all meanings of a word into account. Maybe it was because my wife was recently at our local clinic getting some blood work done, but my mind went to diagnosing and fixing ailments.
