Is destinypublicevents.com becoming less accurate? It seems like over the pass few days that the events are starting much later than destinypublicevents.com estimates.
Did Bungie advertise them then change the schedule just to mess with us?

I've been getting that too

I wonder if their clocks are misaligned or if the Public Events themselves no longer time-based.

I guess they didn't account for the relativity shift that all that space magic from the traveler causes.

It's never been precise, for me at least.
It is usually exactly 5 minutes off from the posted time for me, so I just adjust the clock mentally and never have any issues.
So when it says you got a warsat coming in 2 min at the moth yards, you really have about 7.
YMMV.

This, usually it starts with the timer at -5. I haven't played destiny in a few days for public events though.

They usually happen for me between -4 & -6 minutes.

Their timer is based on start-time-lower-bound I believe

Eg, the Fallen Walker on Earth, AFAIK, can happen at :45 after (and :15 after, ever since the second week or so when they increased the PE rate?). However, there's like a +/-5 minute bound to that. So really it could start anywhere between :40 and :50. So DPE.com probably advertises its timer to :40, which is the lower-bound of the PE timer, to play it safe.
That's how I understand it at least. I could be wrong.

Yeah, Public Events schedule is a range, not an exact time

Hmm, interesting. I think the latest it goes is -7, so perhaps it's bound to :43 in your example. Either way I try to get their 5 minutes early if possible and then wait it out farming and killing.

The schedule is definitely not set in stone. I sometimes get an event 5 minutes after the posted time, sometimes I get it like 2 minutes early, and sometimes not at all.

I wonder if people are spamming the thumbs up button not realizing that you should only do it when the event actually starts. If they are then might be throwing the timer off.

The Destiny Timers app on ios is really good. I have noticed that events have been starting towards the end of their window the last few days. Guessing that's just RNGesus messing with me again.

The problem with this website is that the public events don't seem to start at an exact time. There's a window during which they MAY occur.
I use the Destiny Timers app on Android,* and it always gives a countdown to the start of a 5 minute window, then shows a timer for how long that window will go. The events seem to be able to happen anywhere within that window. Occasionally, they don't happen at all.
* I'm pretty sure it's the same app unoudid mentioned - it certainly looks like it was designed for iOS originally.
