I really hope this is part of some kind of mechanic to buff your sword damage on Crota! This could be what we were missing. Given that so many mechanics were introduced then never used again, I can't help but think that he's so hard to kill because everybody's doing it wrong.

1. I can't believe you were actually right for once during this raid...

2. How has almost NOBODY else seen him? Like I said, when I had the sword, I traversed pretty much the entire map throughout our attempts.

3. We do use introduced mechanics. The Gatekeepers showed us that the sword can damage enemies that are otherwise immune to damage, which only took us one try to figure out and execute...

4. I'll hit 31 today, soon as I get out of work, so I'll be testing this out with Randoms. Expect a full report when we reconvene.

5. Get that wolf pack ready for tonight, Cody...

There is also an invisible wall in front of him I found out. Not a force field like between us and the song wizard, but an invisible barrier. The others in the group were pessimistic and told me they though it was just an insurance anti-cheese measure.

Maybe killing the gatekeeper with the sword (instead of getting hits in Crota with it) allows Crota to actually be damaged with our weapons temporarily...

Gatekeepers previously only spawned when a swordbearer is killed. Is it the same way in Crota's room, or is there a different method to spawn them this time?

Not sure, but he spawned up there after killing the first sword bearer. Also my initial excitement is diminished since he's behind a you-aren't-supposed-to-ever-go-here invisible wall. Perhaps simply and anti cheese measure.

Crota is standing on a bridge building circle! What if when he moves off, we step on it and summon a bridge? Either a bridge will be made leading somewhere, or the totem annihilators will appear and either help or hurt us.

Lol yeah. At least we will have Munky the 31 if all else fails.

there were a couple of our tries last night, where there were two of them up there. not sure how your would kill them, since there is an invisible barrier. like others have said, they must be anti-cheese tools, in case someone does find a way up there.
