Is Suros Regime really THAT good? (Destiny)

... Yes, it is.
I know: old news to many of you, but I'm finally discovering for myself :)
Decided to take my shiny new Suros Regime into the Crucible for the first time, see what all the fuss was about.
After spending a couple hours with it, I can't believe I ever played PvP without it.
I'm not particularly good at PvP. Decent, a bit streaky. My K/D usually hovers between 1.0-1.5. Last night, I was on top of the scoreboard almost every single match. The combination of impact and accuracy on this thing is unreal! I haven't tried every single gun in the game, but Suros outclasses everything else in my inventory by a mile. I was even going toe-to-toe with the dreaded hand-canon ninjas who always seemed to kill me so easily before.
I think Crucible just got a bit more fun for me lol

I won't miss this again. I'm keeping 23 coins within (Nightfall) striking distance so I can buy it next time it's offered. It's a thing of beauty. Glad to hear it works okay.

Eh; It gets me at range, but Doctor Nope still beats it in the vicinities I like to work with, or if I get the drop on someone. I don't doubt that it's good, but it doesn't seem exceptionally so, to me, just judging by the times I've played against it.
Also: Killing someone at significant distance with Doctor Nope is satisfying. Headshotting someone camping with a sniper while standing in the base they were snipe camping? Incredibly so.

Speaking of ranging with hand cannons...

Do headshots inflict full damage, regardless of range or am I seeing things?

I don't know, I'm not ranging with a hand cannon.
I'm ranging with my 72-bullets-in-a-clip auto rifle.
I'll check those numbers later, though, if I remember.

Ooooops

It's good, but last night I went back to my 42 round Shadow Price. The longer sustained fire is just too good to pass up. Plus I like my exotic secondaries.

Get a Monte Carlo, and put the 55 rounds on it. I've gotten triple kills without ever letting go of the trigger, all headshot kills thanks to its nigh-perfect stability.

This is of course post exotic buff. Before, it wasn't nearly as good, in part to having much less stability. The perk can now instantly charge your melee which I must admit on warlocks is pretty insane.

Suros is pretty awesome in PvP, but I have Vision of Confluence now and it's even better. I wipe the floors with Suros users now! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!
I still want dat Mythoclast, though.
Suros > Everything

I'm convinced that people that don't use Suros either don't have it, don't have the Suros Regime perk unlocked, or don't realize how beneficial the latter is to PvP.
Combine Suros with Gunslinger's Trance and you have a health grabbing, improved impacting, laser beam capable of sniping in full auto. There is very little reason to play with anything else once you have it.

It's a good gun, for sure, and I bought it from Xur early on, but never liked using it until I needed to for the Iron Banner Bounty. I grew to master its quirks and perks fairly quickly, but once Iron Banner was over, I went straight back to my VoC/Final Rest combo.
Since then, I started using the Monte Carlo, and it's a hugely underrated Auto Rifle. High Rate of fire matched with high stability and the option of long-range or a 55 round mag... And that's without the Monte Carlo Method perk, which, when playing as a Hunter or Warlock is insane (every kill has a chance to refill your knife/Scorch completely, and remember that Scorch gives you an overshield)... I'm consistently wrecking in the Crucible with it, even getting fairly long range kills. The only times I've lost to a Suros is when the people have the High Impact perk on, which causes you to miss a lot at range, but that Suros perk makes it difficult to win even with Scout Rifles, so it's not an issue exclusive to Monte Carlo. I do win most engagements, though...

Mythoclast has a higher DPS at close range (as does really any fusion rifle), as does the Last Word and Hawkmoon, with Thorn being OP at pretty much any range. I find lots of reasons to play with other stuff...
Lord knows I love my Mythclast, but I was chewing through Mythoclast-wielders last night like it was going out of style :D
I should mention...
by rliebherr , St. Louis, Missouri, Monday, December 15, 2014, 10:25 (3872 days ago) @ Korny
...that I do consistently lose fights to Hawkmoon or TLW at close range. I haven't had an issue with Mythoclast, yet. I struggle against Hawkmoon particularly. I swear it's a two shot kill!

It literally is. Though it feels that way for TLW, Hawkmoon is nearly guaranteed be a two shot kill thanks to the stacking perks. Best Hand Cannon in the game, so obviously it's eluded me to this day...

Nope. I just can't bring myself to play it on principle. If there's one gun that's so point-designed for MM, and takes less brains to use than oatmeal, then something's amiss. Obviously this is my VERY biased opinion, AND I greatly prefer hand-cannons anyway, it's just my style. If I'm not using a cannon, I'm rocking the OG Kvostov or Strangers Rifle, because it's WAY more fun to wreck a SUROS player with my broken-sighted starter. ;)
Plus, I don't play Crucible enough to really care that much.
