Long story short: I had max upgraded iron banner boots n gaunts, broke them both down and got.. NOTHING.

[rage] How am I going to get the shit for levelling up my new legendaries [/rage]

That does sound crummy. I wouldn't be breaking down fully upgraded stuff if I had choices, but the fact it got you nothing, yeah, I would've expected something.

This got me to thinking I'd never actually done the math on getting armor. The fastest consistent way is buying it from the Vanguard. The cheaper armors (everything except helmets) have gone up in price 10 marks from 65 to 75, but they don't require commendations. One match in the Vanguard Tiger Strike playlist gives you 6 Vanguard marks. That means you'd need to run it 13 times to get enough marks (for the last one you could run a Wolf Strike since you'd only need 3 more marks). In my experience matchmade strikes usually take 30-40 minutes, sometimes down to 25 or up 45. Multiplying those by 13 gives 5 hours 25 minutes to 9 hours 45 minutes, not counting starting the game, going to and from the playlist and the Tower, decrypting engrams, turning in bounties, etc. That might sound like a lot but I expected it to take more strikes and close to a whole day if not more-- although admittedly the upper end is close to all the daylight hours in an average day, and longer than the working hours in many jobs, and it would've only taken 11 strikes before the recent update.
So, how you're going to get the shit for leveling up your legendaries is probably a dozen strikes. I might go so far as to call this a great setup if it wasn't for the fact there are so few strikes and you can only get 100 marks per week.
