Enrage and immersion (Destiny)

I get the idea behind the enrage timers. They are just stupidly implemented and break immersion.

A better way would be to roll it into the game mechanics better. For example, why, if Crota can summon an oversoul anytime, does he only on enrage? Why, if the templar can call minotaurs, doesn't he always?

A better way is perhaps Crota's body is regaining strength, and when he is strong enough he can unleash these attacks. Maybe instead the templar is doing a calculation the whole time, and on enrage it's simply done, and weapons and armor and ammo slowly starts disappearing from your character as you are erased from existence.

Anything to avoid the very gamey and very immersion breaking "ENRAGED!".

"Public Event" banners, anyone?

How does a Fallen Captain walking into the area cause the sky to go dark, anyway?

It's not even the sky going dark, as much as your vision going dark. I sort of assumed it was an effect caused by having that much "darkness" suddenly within a mile of you. Akin to what happens to Jedi sometimes when they can "feel" major events.
