ROC Playlist: Makin' it rain! (Destiny)

by CruelLEGACEY @, Toronto, Monday, December 22, 2014, 07:19 (3865 days ago)

Since getting heavily in to the raid loop a couple months ago, I haven't been spending much time in the Strike playlists. They just award gear that was good enough to be worth the time. But last night I decided to jump in to the Level 26 ROC playlist.

I played 3 strikes, and got 5 purple engrams. I was awarded 1 purple per strike on completion, and another 2 just dropped out of random enemies mid-mission.

Did I just have freakishly good luck last night, or is this sort of payout typical of the ROC playlist?

Sounds like a freakishly good night to me. Nice.

Lol... One of the engrams turned into 2 pieces of Ascendant Energy, the rest were all armor. I actually would've been happy with nothing but energy. I never seem to have enough these days :)

that explains it

I knew some sort of deal with the devil was going on- how else do you have this luck? I just can't believe he was sacrificing puppies..

To answer Cruel's question, no this is not normative. I've gotten a lot of legendaries from ROC (much more than the old tiger), but never at that rate.

Combine that with the Undying Mind strike...

I average blue engrams from it, but have gotten a few purples...

I ran a ROC on the Undying Mind last night, and during that one boss battle alone, I picked up five Blue engrams and so many green that I was nearly out of empty slots by the time it was over. I think it might have to do with the sheer number of Vex that get spammed, but I thought RNG was completely random across all enemies.

I hadn't gone into the Strike playlist since the Bad Juju bounty nearly two months ago, but I've been doing a lot of ROC since the DLC dropped, and I've been getting some really neat stuff.

Stupid DLC

I'm still pissed that you only get the "cryptarc engram" from roc playlist and not tiger. Now I'm locked out because I didn't buy the DLC.. This is some BS I swear

Was that cryptarch engram awarded in Tiger before?

Genuinely curious, I don't play strike playlists so I don't know if it was in there previously. If it was in there previously, that's kind of shitty.

Yes, it was.

I believe it was in the Level 22 playlist, as well.

If so, they should have left it in at least the Tiger playlist and then in the Roc so there's actually a point in doing the Strikes for people who don't have the DLC.

Yes, it was.

I understand why Bungie rolled back some of those rewards. It's just a really douche reason.

Not impressed, Bungie.

I know, it really agg's me, now the best strike I can do (match made so don't have to worry about spending 40 mins grinding players) is a lvl 24 which I get shit rewards from. There is literally no reason to do strikes now other than for consumables and RNGesus praying.

Bungie should not of removed them from tiger play lists, should of just up'd the rate for roc or chance of purple stuff (shards ect)

Strikes were my primary activity prior to TDB and I'd estimate .5 legendaries per strike.

There will be beautiful moments when you jump in, someone else is killing the boss, and you walk away with an exotic 30 seconds later. But there will also be matches and matches where you get nothing more than 3-4 blues. I'd say it's the most time=efficient activity for Cryptarch leveling.
