Anybody pulled a Light of the Abyss yet? (Destiny)
Better than Murmur on the Ark side? Doesn't look like it charges faster, or carries as many charges per clip. Just curious, I've got a thing for Fusion rifles.

I've got one. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but it has a slower charge than Murmur. Packs a heck of a punch, though, thanks to a crazy impact, and it's been my most-used fusión rifle this past week, and that's without the added damage on Hive majors unlocked...

I'm listening
I have a Final Rest from Dead Orbit with mad impact and accelerated coils, plus some nice reload perks...just curious if it'd be worth putting down to upgrade Light of the Abyss if I pulled it.
Love me some high impact Fusion rifles.
Man I hate fusion rifles

Is that because fusion rifles hate you?

Got around to looking it up from the app.
Final Rest 2 is my favorite Fusion Rifle, but mine is Void damage, which has some limited use. Its stats are better than the LotA in all but charge rate, so if you have a 331 version, FR2 is still king.
Still, the bonus hive damage will be extremely useful down the road, and the fact that it does Arc will be very useful against Captains in the HoW DLC...
If you want to check it out, I had it equipped when last I played...

Man, you're makin' me think about it. My FR is 331 and hits like a truck; with the Accelerated coils it's pretty wicked, but that bonus damage on Hive seems pretty tempting. That upgrade cost with Radiant Materials makes me waver a bit...I guess the question is, assuming I pulled the raid sniper or rocket launcher, would it be better to up those over the Fusion rifle, if either were also available?
Also: you're a bad, bad man.

I really like the Light of the Abyss, it has better charge rate than Murmur, and slightly better range. But the thing I really like is the second perk is better accuracy when firing from the hip, which can be a lifesaver on a fusion rifle.

Murmur is a strange weapon

I love how Korny tells me Murmur charges faster that LotA, you tell me LotA charges faster than Murmur...and you're both correct.

I'm pretty sure the Raid Sniper is what you should want :D

Murmur is a strange weapon
Actually, I hate to say it (not really) but Korny is just wrong!
Light of the Abyss is faster even when Murmur is set to Arc.
Damn. In his defense, Korny did admit he was fuzzy on that. That is some wicked charge on the LotA. Need to find video.
I just really do not like them
They do not match my game style

There is something masochistic about them.
They require you, in PvP, to take fire without response. There's something very naked about them, that forces you to grit your teeth and pray the dps won't drop you.
And then you have to hit your target with all of the projectiles in most cases, which adds pressure on top of the fact that you're already under fire. Some are more forgiving than others, and the payoff is significant, but they all require a certain amount of vulnerability.
They're rediculous.
You speak If them as if they are hard to use / require skill.
Using a fusion rifle is exactly this:
1) look in your targets general direction
2) hold trigger till it fires and instant kills you target
That's it. They have greater range than a shotgun, impact than a sniper and can't exactly be out gunned 1v1 as they're only restraint is charge time, and it's an instant kill from across the room.
Not to mention they are all but a funnel vortex which does require any precision at all.

God I love them
Every time I nuke spray somebody with one:
Funny
I do the same thing, every time I use skill and precision to end my enemies light. No instant fry needed.
Swings and roundabouts I guess.

The cure for what ails you
Hate fusion rifles? Play with people that utterly destroy the other team with fusion rifles. Revel in schadenfreude!
Speaking of, Iconic, we need to get the band back together sometime soon. The Ward is hungry. Hungry for Murder Parties.

Woo! Let's kill everybody!
Feel free to shoot me one too. GT is also iconicbanana

The raid Sniper (Black Hammer) is pretty hyped up round these parts, but it's actually not all that great outside of stun-locking bosses (and Walker tanks). It's not the Ice Breaker-killer that people think.
The rocket launcher has been described as the poor man's Gjallarhorn, and so far feels like it, as it has a very slow projectile speed. Need to unlock the Cluster bomb, which was fairly useless on the Hezen's Vengeance outside of Crucible.
I have the shotgun, which is probably my favorite shotgun in the game (above Invective, tied with Found Verdict). It has very low recoil when aiming down the sights, fires quickly, and has a decent ammo capacity...
What you'd really find useful is the Raid machine gun. looks awesome, and has some pretty solid stats, too. I want it.
The Fusion Rifle is probably the best of the weapons that I've gotten so far.
Also: you're a bad, bad man.
... Now see, I do a lot of bad things. You're gonna have to be more specific...

Now with (incredibly brief) comparative video!

Holy balls that LotA has a fast charge time.

Hunger of Crota is meh in crucible. Since the tracking is not "Agressive," it can be dodged. I still prefer truth in PvP b/c of the tracking and proximity detonation. I still haven't gotten a Gjallarhorn :(

I like my light of the abyss better than my murmur, but I'm not totally sure why. Maybe it's the ammo capacity?? Both have downsides when upgrading... LoA takes Radiant and Murmur requires the Eris item, so both will be stuck near 300 unless you grind a lot.

Have you upgraded both through their tech trees? Perks usually determine which I FR use.

I've upgraded both as far as I can without spending radiant or the eris item (I'm only Eris rank 2). When I used to use Murmur, I would tend to use arc murmur (VoC is enough solar), and arc Murmur has slightly more impact, but worse stats in every other category.
Side note: I should also note that I haven't used fusion rifles terribly much since the beta. I prefer shotgun for crucible and didn't do much VoG raiding (fusion rifles really shine vs. minotaurs). However, since I got the LoA, I find myself leaning towards using it over my Praedyth's Revenge and Epitaph.

Good info *edit

Does one play significantly better than the other? Also, just in general, do you find them playing better than other legendary FR's?
*Ha! Responded too quick. Good additional info there.
