by Kermit , Raleigh, NC, Tuesday, December 30, 2014, 09:20 (3852 days ago)
Sadly, it looks like I'm going to have to give up on the thorn and invective bounties. I just can't make progress in the crucible. Wish I didn't suck. In better news, I am about to get bad juju.

Have you looked for help with those?

They're easier in a group. If you throw down a request for help you can usually pull some people in. It makes a world of difference.

Agreed, you should run the crucible with us some time to get some help. Just keep yourself alive and out of the main firefights. Let those of us who are crazy run in first and then mop up the weak enemies who survive or sit back somewhere with a sniper rifle and headshot some fools. Don't worry about winning, just staying alive and you'll get through the bounties ok.

I'm up for helping too. I need a bunch of crucible marks for my warlock, so I was planning on getting several games in tonight.

Well, i've made a tiny bit of progress since I posted. I'll set up something for tonight using the event tool. I'm finding that skirmish is my best gametype.

Control is probably better with a full fireteam of 6 if you can manage it. Then teamwork can aid you the most by telling you where the enemies are and what parts of the map are going to be fought over the most. I'm on 360 so I won't be able to help unless you want to come back to the Light Side of the Force. We have cookies.

The 360 is an option.

Chaos and I were running the nightfall with lil' blue and he really made some clutch plays with the ward of dawn against Sekrion. Definitely prevented a team wipe when we were almost finished.

This pleases me.

I need to teach him the Devil Wlaker bubble. People will hate him.

This pleases me.

What is this Devil Walker Bubble you speak of?

During a public event with a Devil Walker and several random players, wait until the walker is almost dead then drop a bubble shield on top of it. Bask in their rage.

Even better...

Get a fireteam of three defender Titans and do this with all three.

This pleases me.

I got the Invective bounty crucible stage done by hogging a base and heavy ammo and just mowing down anyone who came close. Not even going after anything else just focusing on defending a single base.
Trust me I am not a very good Crucible player anyways but it worked for me. I had great success on the Exodus Blue map staying at A the entire time because the heavy ammo spawns right nearby.
I would be happy to help any time kerm :)

You're sweet. Unfortunately, I need help on the Xbox. I think I need two to five people are willing to spot me and coach me every step of the way.

It's much easier to set up shop somewhere and keep the squad together, more or less. Control requires you to move around because of the bigger space you need to defend or you'll just get steamrolled, which won't help with the whole "not dying" thing. :)

Uhh, lol you have to get 10,000 kill points in crucible for bad Juju's last step!

Right, but the difference with Bad Juju's bounty is that it's not possible to go backwards, and assists count. As long as you run around next to teammates and spray bullets, you will get it eventually. I don't play Crucible, ever, and it still only took me around an hour and a half by myself.

Correct. I just got it. My first exotic bounty!

as a hunter, the thorn bounty is incredibly difficult unless you have a void primary. i was only gaining about 10 pts/match using my fusion rifle and machine gun, so i gave up until atheo9n's epilogue dropped for me. after that i consistently got about 50 pts/match.

My pain....

I've abandoned the Thorn bounty literally 4 times at the MM requirement....and I just got the missive for Thorn/Juju/Invective AGAIN on my Hunter last night. Is there NO OTHER missive to get?!! It's ridiculous! I don't use shotguns, and I don't want ANOTHER Bad Juju. I really would like to have Thorn for my cannon-collection, but the MM step is just BRUTAL for me. Maybe I'll hang on to it this time and try with friends more often. I DO have A.Epilogue, but I just need to be better about NOT DYING. X( The 5-steps-forward-2-steps-back aspect is just....disheartening....
EDIT: Also; why can we not transfer a Missive BEFORE starting it? I would have WAY more fun completing the Thorn bounty on my Warlock or Titan. I get that once it's started you're committed. But what's the harm in allowing it to be transferred while it's still in the "pick one of these" stage? It's basically a commendation/currency at that point.

It's a great gun for killing oracles, but a bad gun in the Crucible. It's not just your suckage :-p You are better off using a void fusion rifle. That is what I did my first time getting it.

Totally right, the epilogue sucks in crucible! My k/d dropped to 1.1-1.2 instead of my normal 1.6-1.7 with hand cannons. I don't think I got many kills with the epilogue, but not every situation is right for the fusion rifle and you can't waste kills on other damage types. I think machine gun kills were my main source of points.

Go into a free-for-all match, pick a lonely corner of the map, and let them run into your Void shots. Should only take a couple of games, especially if they deliver some heavy ammo to you or soften up any other enemy that gets near...

...do they ban for this?

Just genuinely curious. Don't see many comments on the tubes about people getting the ban-hammer in general. I imagine someone might report you, but they'd have to be pretty astute. Maybe turn off the clan part so the post-game screen won't show one DBO guy crushing and the other 2 completely feeding?

At one point, I had to do the Thorn a second time for my Hunter, and I invited two friends over to do Rumble. Hid in Territory A on Shores of Time and just lit them(and any witnesses) up.
I accidentally won the game--which might irk some people into reporting you--but considering you only have to get >100 kills, it should only take a few games, and then you won't be doing it anymore!
Who's it gonna hurt? ;-)

I'm surprised at most of you. I hate Crucible, but I still got by pretty quickly with the Void bounties. Yes, Skirmish and Full Control are your best options, but you don't have to use a Void Fusion Rifle. I got by plenty with the Praedyth's Revenge, and The Crash(I believe that was the name). Not to mention my Despot SA/5, the tracking rocket launcher.
Obviously you need to be more careful. Stick with teammates--preferably the ones high on the scoreboard. Or, bring your friends. If they can't assist you, they can at least protect you. You may even have to result to camping an enemy's Ghost and waiting for the revive.
