In the hangar, by the way. In the ship garage.

That was pretty cool. Xur's engram gave me some Ruin Wings, and I bought Dragon's Breath. Thanks for the heads up!

Wow, I'm looking at it, and it looks like garbage. No tracking, low Velocity. How on Earth is this any better than Truth or Gjallarhorn? Or even Hunger of Crota?!
Do any of the new exotic weapons NOT suck?

I've had it 3 times. All my clanmates keep telling me to upgrade it but like you say, its kind if ass.

If the AOE effect was the size of Nova Bomb, it would be awesome. But it's just a puny little solar grenade.

Yeah but it SMOKES!

It's not for tracking--it's for the classic Halo 1 Flamethrower tribute!

Depending on how much damage the solar flare does, I could see it being useful to plug doorways as enemies come through. But yeah, it does seem pretty weak compared to Gjallarhorn, Truth, or any of the legendaries I've got.
And speaking of crappy exotics, I decided to give No Land Beyond a try... It's absolutely terrible. I'm amazed by how useless it is lol
Hopefully Bungie will buff the hell out if both these weapons.

If Dragon's Breath:
1. Was Arc instead of Solar
2. Left a titan pulse grenade instead of a flare
3. Had tracking
Then it would be supremely useful.

I'm a way, not having tracking is good. It lets you place your AOE bubble exactly where you want it, instead of wherever the enemy is when the rocket catches up to it.

Great unique way to improve it...

Agreed.
We have way too many Solar weapons, but that's part of the weapon's shtick.
If I were to buff it, I'd make the solar grenade last longer than a regular one, to promote the AoE effect, otherwise (as I predicted the minute the weapon was announced), it's mostly good against bosses. That said, the Velocity is oddly slow... Wait.
What if it didn't just leave a Solar grenade, but Had an AoE burn the moment it left the tube? Any enemy around the rocket would get scorched, even if it was only enough to pop their shields or ignite them, it gives you more options, and adds variety to the "how" of using a rocket launcher. Rather than hitting the floor, you'd be more incline to send it down a hallway. This is also in keeping with the theme of "dragon's breath"... Also, you'd benefit from such a slow velocity (longer exposure to the burn)...
Imagine sending it just over the heads of a row of Hive, watching every one of them get ignited...

Oh god I want this!!!

Crucible:
- The travel AoE would expose camping enemies (and unseen enemies in general), as you'd see the damage ticks.
- You could fire it towards a busy area, immediately switch to a handcannon/Scout Rifle and headshot all of the scorched victims, making the Headshot Bounty easier, and again, giving you incentive to send it straight ahead rather than down at enemies' feet. (Yay risk/reward!)
- Igniting enemies stops their health recovery, so even if you don't manage to outright kill them, you'd be drowning in Assist medals, also helpful with the Bounty that requires 50.
PvE:
- Igniting enemies does a LOT of damage in PvE, and stops them from healing, which is especially useful against shielded enemies.
- Slow projectile speed could help a whole lot during the Darkness run in Crota's End. Just fire a rocket towards the next lamp and have a cleared path waiting for you.
- If the travel AoE cast a light, it could help alert you to the holes in the terrain.
Basically, it'd make Crucible a little more bearable for those who hate it, and it'd make PvE a little more fun, especially for Titans that lack Solar abilities, and Hunters that lack an AoE grenade.

3 rounds in the tube helps. I'm thinking it is more about covering an area in fire rather than single point high damage. Might be useful in crucible to block off doors and areas while still having a big initial explosion. Kinda like combining solar grenades with explosive grenades.
It's midway between a machine gun and a rocket launcher
by Earendil, Friday, January 02, 2015, 10:53 (3855 days ago) @ Cody Miller
Rocket launchers are great, if you are hitting a group of targets. The most recent raid and strike presents us with a stream of guys, and sometimes you'd like that stream to stop. One way to do this is to use a machine gun and hold the trigger down at thrall head level. Another way is toss a duration grenade in the path. But rocket launchers were borderline useless in places because they would only kill 2 or 3 guys, not slow down the stream of guys at all, and would occasionally get you killed due to tracking into a close wall or proximity detention due to the thrall tapping on your shoulder. Sometimes I just want a rocket to land in THAT doorway and leave an AOE duration effect that will give me time to reload.
Plus, as much as I love watching Truth track a player down from across the map, I do sort of miss the epic rocket launcher shots of the Halo days :)
