Pro Tip for Vault of Glass runners (Destiny)

Don't remember who in our group pointed this out first, but during our hard-mode run through the VoG last night we confirmed that Fatebringer can actually 1-shot level 30 Goblins. The trick is to turn on explosive rounds. With it activated, a crit hit does over 2000 damage against the Goblins; more than enough to take them down. It makes the Conflux/Templar battle way more manageable.
You know, just in case there was any doubt that Fatebringer is by far the best weapon in the game ;)

Why would you ever not have explosive rounds turned on?
:D

Because you either want field scout, or because you don't want explosive rounds interfering with firefly. But yeah somethign was up, because explosive rounds were getting massive damage. I don't recall seeing the boost that huge before. ~1500 without, ~2000 with.

Is it perhaps because the critical is being applied to the explosive component as well? Is there another explosive ordinance that can cause critical damage?

Tested that last night. Explosion was always 1006 damage on the goblin you hit, crit or no.

It came about because of this thread, wherein Cody said no handcannon (except Hawkmoon) could one-shot goblins in the Vault and I swore up and down that I do it all the time - so we made it a point to figure out last night.

#codywaswrong. But then, what else is new? Womp Womp.

Also, Gjallarhorn 2.0 is a BEAST

No big surprise here, but I was amazed how quickly we were able to torch Atheon, thanks in no small part to the 8 or so Gjallarhorn rockets I nailed him with. This was the first time I've used the 2.0 version on him since fully upgrading it. Every time I landed a shot, his health bar just melted. So good :)

TFWPKY 1969 with explosive rounds one shots them too. And it gets the new max attack values. OH SNAP SON.

TFWPKY is good, but it does not have firefly, and is Kinetic Damage. Fatebringer is very useful for taking out shields without having to switch to a special. I used to carry an appropriately elemented fusion rifle with me on missions for shield duty, but I find that I haven't used them very much lately if at all.

I Have Like....NONE Of Those.
