The designers are attempting to shake up how people play, for better or for worse. I can see an offensive use for the sun singer hurling three fusion grenades rapidly while their super is up, but with viking funeral the others are a bit better.
You're still capped at two Fusion grenades, even with Gift of the Sun and Starfire Protocol both active.
