As a fellow Guardian who never plays with a mic, I feel like we're kindred spirits ;p

Being the lone player without a mic in my regular group has been an interesting experience. It certainly has its downsides, like last night during the Crota raid. During the first section of the Raid, an exploding lamp sent me sailing clear across the area. I was left in the dark, a mile away from my teammates... and nobody noticed lol. 5 minutes went by before someone finally said "Hey, where's Legacy?" XD

But on the flip side, it's lead to some very interesting communication and focus on teamwork. I've found that I need to be comfortable playing all possible rolls within the Vault of Glass and Crota's End, because someone is going to assign me a position and I'm not going to be able to argue about it. So wherever someone asks me to go, I need to be able to do it.

Improvising during the raids can be a different issue for me than for the rest of my group. Since I can't explain what I'm doing, there's a bit of added pressure. I need to be sure that a) what I'm doing is the right thing to do, and b) that I can pull it off successfully.

The other interesting thing that's happened is that I often get tasked with some of the simpler/safer rolls during the raids, because I'm not able to communicate if I need help. For example, I spent over 20 Vault of Glass runs sniping from the spawn-platform during the battle in the Templar's Well. This gave me the opportunity to become familiar with the encounter on a different scale than the rest of my group who was down "in the trenches". Now, I am able to jump down and cover any position extremely effectively because I've seen it all from a distance so many time. Outside of that specific example, I find that playing without a mic has caused me to be extra observant of the rest of my team. I'm constantly looking at where everyone is, how the battle is going, and shifting what I'm doing to help cover any weak spots.
