What's a good rate to get Glimmer? (Destiny)

Just one of those random questions, but what's a good glimmer per minute rate? Is 350/minute (after boost and vendor trash) a good rate?

That's not bad. I generally average about 4,000 glimmer in 10 minutes (the length of a consumable) on the Exclusion Zone.

Wow, really?

Are you just doing the first section (with all the Majors dropping out of the ships) on repeat with a consumable active? 4K in 10 mins seems rather high; I remember that mission being a good drop rate, but not quite that good.

Yeah, I pop a consumable as soon as I activate the ghost at the terminal, then I run/jump out past the first ship and kill all the yellow legionaries- ignoring everything else for the most part. (Probably goes without saying, but you need to select at least the second difficulty level to have the majors instead of just regular red-titled guys). I usually use rockets and/or supers to kill most of them quickly. Then as soon as I've killed the yellow-titled guys I run up to the middle where the normal legionaries and phalanxs are until they kill me and repeat over and over again. Make sure you pick up all the "network keys" they drop too.
I did two cycles of this last night (two consumables - for a total of 20 minutes) and netted about 5k from kills and 2k from Network Keys. So, I guess that was more like 350/minute than 400/min, but I wasn't as quick and efficient as I could have been.
If you have a VoG Gatekeeper checkpoint you can actually get much more glimmer per minute there by just opening the door and killing all the yellow vex (with Blue Polyphage active) and jumping off the ledge over and over.
Wow, really?

I kill all the red as well, just leave the centurion to kill you, or kill myself as it's sometimes quicker. I would say I am a bit closer to 5000k after the network keys myself.

Exclusion Zone + Voidwalker + Obsidian Mind

like was said, run past all the reds, and the second ship will come in. Super the group that drops out of the left side, then switch to rockets (i use hunger of crota). This will take out most of the second group. By the time you pick the rest off, your super will be back (due to obsidian mind). The whole process should take you 1-1.5 mins.
Let the red guys kill you, and start over. The network keys/resupply codes dropped by the yellow guys will stay on the ground from one wipe to the next, no need to waste time picking them all up until your glimmer timer runs out.
The reason to skip the reds, is that they don't give you enough glimmer. Yes, if you kill them, you will get more glimmer per wipe, but you will get less glimmer per minute (b/c all the time spent killing reds, could have been spent killing yellows).

Okay, good. That sounds about right by the math from my latest run of my current pattern. I could probably pull that in ten minutes in Blades and events didn't alter the spawn metrics so badly.

I've started using consumables when ever I start a mission or strike--it's not as efficient as farming, obviously, but tends to keep pace with the XP progress on whatever I'm working on.
I just can't exclusion zone any more. If I absolutely had to for Xur, sure, but not willingly.

I stumbled upon a quick grind method for Russia on accident and used it to restore my funds after buying a new ship. ...Then finally got caught up on weapons parts for upgrades by buying cheap weapons.
It works fairly well for me, but I don't intend to power grind it. Do a pass or four when I'm forced into Russia and am looking for loot boxes, then continue on with actually playing.

Go speed racer, go. Way to live up to your moniker :p
