Pretty unhappy... (Destiny)

I've been using Armamentarium for so long that I've never really considered other exotic armor; picking up 4 rockets each time heavy drops is a REQUIREMENT.

So when Ruin Wings went on sale in January, I bought them - I figured it might be nice to try out other armor stuff.

And now that I will have 36 EVERYTHING (thanks to Iron Banner), I figured it was time to start experimenting... last night I swapped Armamentarium for Willbreaker's Resolve, and my Knightbone Guard gloves for Ruin Wings, and jumped into IB.

Turns out Ruin Wings only gives me 3 rockets, not 4. Yeah, still better than the default 2... but sometimes those extra rockets mean the difference between winning and losing. :( (Plus, I lose the extra grenade - I could live with that if I got the 4 rockets, but the combination is heartbreaking.)

Is there ANY other way I can get a full complement of 4 rockets as a Titan?

I think, for PvP, armamentarium might be your best bet. So far I prefer using ruin wings during PvE. I know some people say they don't work, but I consistently get more heavy ammo drops while using them. It's ok that I can't hold as many shells at a time because I get fresh ammo pickups so frequently. But in PvP, where there's a predetermined limit to the heavy ammo drops, you're probably better off using armamentarium.

Crucible seems to not have as pronounced an effect on perks, as PvE does.

Arma is AWESOME to use in Crucible.

Ruin wings do well enough in PvE (I'm just not as lucky as Korny I guess) but in Crucible they don't seem to do much. Hard to test too...how often do you kill someone, and they have heavy ammo for you to take, ya know?

All of this is true. Plus, I suspect the extra grenade helps more often in PvP than the heavy ammo anyway.

Well, the other big problem with Armamentarium is that I don't have a level 36 non-Exotic helmet... so I'm stuck at 31 if I keep Armamentarium on. :(

(Doesn't matter much in regular PvP, but maybe does in IB? Unless the 'anything above 30 is counted as 30' is really a thing...)

I don't know much about the hard numbers, but I've seen others say that any players within 2 levels of each other are on a virtually even playing field. I've been playing as a 31 this week, and I don't feel noticeably disadvantaged against 32s.

I've been 30-31 all week. Doesnt seem to make much differenc

I've been there.

Korny swears up and down that he's getting 4+ rockets with Ruin Wings but I was only getting 3.

However, I changed some of my armor around, and then something curious happened while wearing ruin wings: I was now getting 3 OR 4 rockets. I think there is some randomness too it.

I can't reliably duplicate it, but I would typically get 4 rockets right off the bat when I had zero heavy ammo. If I already had one rocket, it would only give me 3. I've only really done this with Gjallerhorn though, not sure if WHAT launcher you carry makes a difference. (I used to have one that had clown cartridge and sometimes I'd get an extra rocket when I reloaded, rarely. It worked in PVE frequently but not so much in PVP)

I currently run my Titan with the Crota raid boots, vanguard chest + helmet and ruin wings.

When I change those around to say, all Crota raid armor + Ruin wings, I seem to only get 3's for my rockets.

YMMV.

I don't use either of those Exotics primarily, but I have some Raid boots that give me extra heavy ammo, so I end up with four rockets on every Heavy drop. Do you have any Raid armor with a Heavy boost?

Edit: When I use Ruin Wings, I'm usually using it with Thunderlord, now that I think about it. It's about the only time I won't use rockets.

I had some, from VoG - I sharded them when I got 33 Legendary boots in a strike drop. Figured I didn't really need the heavy ammo perk, because of Arma - and I needed the light to hit 31.

Armamentarium gives you the exact same boost to Heavy that Raid boots do. No more, no less, so if you have Boots with a Heavy Ammo perk, they won't stack.

That's the thing about Ruin Wings. They work separately from the Heavy perk, so they do stack.

If you have Amamentarium and/or raid boots, you get four rockets per pack.
If you have Ruin Wings, you get a minimum of three rockets per pack, besides the higher chance (PvE) of getting a drop.
If you have Ruin Wings and Raid Boots, you get a minimum of four rockets per Heavy. I've gotten up to six rockets in a pickup.

I think your problem is that you aren't wearing Raid boots along with the Ruin Wings.

Is there ANY other way I can get a full complement of 4 rockets as a Titan?

See above. Also, I get about three rockets from people in Crucible while wearing Ruin Wings, but I know that it's entirely dependent on how much Heavy they had left upon death...

But check this video, where getting four Rockets per pickup helped me get a 15-kill spree exclusively through Gjallarhorn. Ruin Wings are invaluable.

I guess that means I've got to hope for Raid boots one of these days. (Which, I guess, means DOING the Raid... ;) )

Gonna second the Arma/Crucible, Ruin Wings/PvE recommendation. I do almost exclusively that. I love using One Way Ticket 000 (Clown Cartridge/Tripod) or my Exodus Plan (Clown Cartridge/Expect to Find) in combination with the raid boots and Ruin Wings. Makes for an almost-unbroken stream of rockets, particularly when raiding.

Also, if you're using Arma in Crucible, think about carrying Swordbreaker or The Crash, in order to regen your grenades a whole lot faster. Works wonders for me.

I've got a secret handshake with long range and grenades charge faster with each kill. It should be illegal for me to use that with Arma.
