TIL: Relentless doesn't guarantee the 10 kills bounty (Destiny)

It's possible to get the Relentless medal just as you die, which fails to complete the "10 kills without dying" Iron Banner bounty. Apparently the IB bounty actually doesn't register as the kill is made, but requires a half second or so, first. Contrastingly, Relentless doesn't give a f---, and that medal pops up the moment you score that 10th kill, even if you die at the same time.
When this happened to me last night, I was pretty salty. I mean, considering that assists also count for the 10 kills bounty, how did I not complete it?!?
Really surprised they didn't tie the bounty to that medal.

The bounty can be achieved across multiple games, the relentless medal cannot.
