No DLC Maps (Destiny)
I hover over the iron banner, and it says "Dark Below. Iron Banner". So where are the DLC maps?
I never see them at all. They sometimes appear in salvage. Why doesn't Bungie do what they did with Halo 3, and roll them into the rotation if everybody in the game has them? They are cool, but I never see them. Just like first light :-(

Good Question.

Launch map Exodus Blue is also not in Iron Banner...

IB isn't DLC exclusive.
It's probably easier to just put everybody in the same lobbies.

Uh... you do remember how that didn't work, right?

How did it work? Did it match you and then check? Or did it check during matchmaking to only pair you with DLC owners before the map was decided?

I dunno…
…I certainly played quite a few matches on Rat's Nest and Standoff.

Match then check

In non-DLC-required playlists, it was match first, then check if everyone has the maps. Of course, if even 1 person didn't have it, they never showed up. Particularly debilitating for BTB.
There was of course DLC-required playlists, which always suffered from being under-populated.
Reach included a weighting in it's matching algorithms that tried to put you with other players that had DLC too, but other factors came first.
Since there is a strong network effect to the value of PvP maps (more people have them, the more often you see them, the better skills and connection matches you get) I really think they should be given to everybody that plays. That does mean the business model would need to change, of course.

Anyone knows where the Moon map First Light went? I haven't played in a while, long while, but last time I did it was nowhere to be seen. I liked that map. :(

Apparently it is only available on combined arms now, which is dumb because that's the worst playlist that nobody plays.

Yay, Cody, for once again implying I'm nobody and have the worst choices!

The stats are pretty clear that combined arms is the least played.

Correct. I'd have to become expansion focused, not DLC focused. (Dark Below was called an expansion, but it was not one in any way shape or form).
Blizzard did fine with Starcraft and Brood War when it came to people being able to play the new multiplayer with the new maps and units. That's because BW was a major release, that dumped big chunks of content onto everybody in one swoop.
It's the plainly superior method over small periodic DLC.
If you insist of frequent chunks of DLC, then the only way is to make sure everybody has it, and that pretty much means a subscription model where you pay per month and get all the content free.

It can be the least played and still be something that individuals enjoy.

That's not the only way, though.
Halo 3/Reach had Bungie Pro with the expanded fileshare and rendering service that they obviously derived some revenue from. That would no longer work today with the features of the new consoles, but there must be something they can offer to satisfy the accountants and get the PvP maps in everybody's hands.
Warframe does it :P

Ahaha. The last thing I'd want to see happen is Bungie go free to play.
