On The Bright Side... (Destiny)

I actually remember back in day 1, when I was like "Can't wait for Trueskill to start kicking in..." But, like all other aspects of the game, Bungie seems to have fallen asleep at the wheel...

The sign that some sort of TrueSkill math is failing is not that you have a lopsided game, but that your win/loss ratio isn't hovering around 50%. Any sort of matching system is only going to use an average ability, but some people will swinger higher/lower than average due to fatigue/alcohal/drugs/emotion/life/bounties. The system can't tell when it pairs you whether any one player will player higher or lower than their personal the average. Get a couple higher players in one side, low on the other, and it'll feel like the matching system failed. However, given enough games the tables should turn, and even out the previous lopsided game.

This doesn't mean that Bungies system is good, only that the evidense I've seen people use to prove it is insufficient.
