Bungie Office Tours (Off-Topic)

Does anyone here know if you can set up tours of the Bungie offices? I'll be visiting Seattle in June and would love to stop there if I could.

It is something you actually cannot do. :(

(They occasionally make exceptions, but those are ALL special cases, and there are no official routes for access.)

I'm sorry.

Do you know if 343 or any other studios up there allow tours?

Thanks!

343's a no, as well. I don't know about any others.

I can't speak for anyone else, but hey, if I'm not in LA (E3 is in June), I'd be happy to have lunch with you. ;)

Thanks!

Sure.

No problem. I'll disconnect the bathroom fan so it's unusable. You'll definitely go in blind.

Do you supply headphones for the audio players or do we bring our own?

We got a special deal on the players - they're older models, with double-pronged inputs. Because most people don't have these, we've included our own headphones in the very reasonable $19.95 rental price.

1. Get one of these, and look for an open window/vent:

2. Post results and become famous on the internet.

I've tried explaining to Bungie, that despite knowing how the next Half Life game ends (circa 2011), I have yet to spill the beans. They can trust me with secrets.

Even that wasn't good enough for a tour.

Probably can't get a tour but you should be able to look around in the lobby area.

Yup, they are locked. Knock and they will buzz you in. Ask nicely to look around and unless someone is having a bad day, success!

This was always creepy and uncomfortable and made me scared that I'd say something on my way through the lower floors that someone would put on the Internet, causing me to get fired. >.>

e: or at least the possibility made me uncomfortable!

Look official, wear a button up and khakis, carry a clipboard ask to speak to management about (insert official sounding item/s real/fake), get inside, rip shirt off to reveal fanboy inside, get escorted out, triumph in personal tour of Bungie.

This is really bad advice. Jerome still works there.

Maybe just taking a tour of their sidewalk or parking lot is a better idea...

You'll want to kill people after seeing the sort of parking that goes on in there.

My Bungie Tour

by dogcow @, Hiding from Bob, in the vent core., Friday, April 03, 2015, 21:54 (3525 days ago) @ unoudid

Back in 2005 I was contacted by Mark A., who was a Microsoft recruiter, regarding a development position with the Mac Business Unit. MS flew me out to Seattle where I met with various MacBU team members. While meeting with Mark in his office I was surprised to see a framed, large, & shiny Halo 2 poster (perhaps with signatures in silver... I'm not positive, memory fades), I asked him about it and he mentioned that he also handled recruitment for Bungie. My jaw hit the floor. One thing led to another and he pointed out which building Bungie was in. IIRC it was north of the main MS campus & east of Mark's location. He got me my visitors tag and explained how to use it and that it would get me into various buildings. My mind raced, could I walk into Bungie on my own, maybe Mark could call someone to give me a little looksee. That afternoon/evening I drove my rental car past the Bungie building, turned around and pulled into the parking lot. As I was pulling into the parking lot I caught a glimpse of a curly haired man in a blue(?) convertible. Wait, was that Jaime Griesemer? He quickly pulled out of the parking lot and I didn't get a second look, dang. Oh well. I then pulled into a stall, sat there for a second and then promptly chickened out and left the premises. I didn't even walk into the foyer. Neither did I follow up with Mark about getting a peek in Bungie, and I didn't get the job either. (I suspect I'm not a very good interviewee and I was super nervous). Anyway, Bungie had a pretty decent parking lot with plenty of cars.

Anyway, moral of the story is... I bet you could get a tour just like I did! ;)

I once had a similar one of Wideload while I happened to be in the area.

I get a similar tour of the Insomniac studio in Durham every couple days. I can even squint really hard from the road and see little vending machines on the second floor!

That's a cool little place. I went there for a playtest once and was surprised how small it was! After only ever seeing the interior shots of places like Bungie and 343, I had no idea what to expect from a smaller studio!
