Exo Warlock! An ancient rusted war machine in a tattered robe who wields unknown powers and carries a shotgun? Does it really need any explanation?

I was under the assumption that Exos would be from cutting-edge technology, not ancient tech. Maybe they're a reclaimed technology from Humanity's golden era?EDIT: And didn't they say they looked at the undead as an inspiration for Exo design? I'm really starting to think dead/lost technology here.
Huh now that you mention this I realize they never mentioned it but I always assumed they would be ancient.
