Lopsided exotic loadouts: Yay or Nay? (Destiny)
I was daydreaming on the trip to work this morning, and I started wondering about the idea of allowing lopsided exotic loadouts. "What the heck is that?" you ask...
What if Destiny allowed us to equip up to 2 exotic items at a time (same as now), but didn't force us to split them between armor and weapons? In other words, what if we were allowed to equip up to 2 exotic items in whatever slots we wanted?
Part of me thinks this would be a complete disaster, but another part of me thinks it could lead to some really interesting and unique builds. It would give us the ability to make our Guardians extra powerful in specific niche ways, but at the potential cost of a more "well rounded" loadout.
I could see this being a potential problem in PvP... can you imagine what a nightmare it would be to go up against a Bladedancer who was wearing Don't Touch Me gloves on top of Mask of the 3rd Man? But, even as I say that, I remember that such a loadout would mean giving up the ability to use Thorn, Hawkmoon, Red Death, or any of the other top PvP exotic weapons. It just might balance out over all.
I feel like there is something to this idea. Maybe it needs some kind of limitations... maybe its only allowed in specific playlists or missions, I don't know.
What do you all think?

Lopsided exotic loadouts: Yay or Nay?
I often want multiple exotic armor pieces. Goodness, wouldn't RuinWings & StandAsides look great together? Where's the chest & helm that go with those two?
My first thought as a coder is about all the extra test cases that will have to be tested. Suddenly a lot of exotic perks might be buggy when put together.

I think you'd see a whole load of Thorn+Truth loadouts...I shudder to contemplate.
Maybe a customs mode?

No.
It strikes me as messing far far to much with something that generally works pretty well already.

How did your name change?

Simple.
I am the terror that flaps in the night. I am... obviously out of my trademark blue smoke. So I used oyster smoke instead.

Not much synergy on most of those
DTMs are not very useful in PVP, mostly because no one is fooled by the cloak effect. Really, the best blade dancer combo would be RDM and Lucky Raspberry for the extra movement and grenade energy spawn. That is hardly an OP combo.
Likewise Gunslingers would get an extra shot and longer lasting grenades, which is not that amazing.
Warlocks would benefit the most. Voidfangs and the Onyx helm, or Solar Gauntlets and HoTPF stack nicely. You could easily light a whole room on fire or have supers regenerating at a constant clip.
Titans with Helm of Inmost light and the boots would also be a major pain.

Yay, I think this adds variety to the game and even more of a Offensive vs. Defensive choice.
I had often pondered of an exotic armor piece who's exotic perk would allow you to equip two exotic weapons. So you'd have 3 exotics, but the exotic perk isn't really a direct benefit to you like blinding you, or something along that line.
You're idea works even better. So you want a Red Death and Invective, cool. But you can't wear that armamentarium and lose the extra grenade.
