New Bungie Destiny app Beta version: smooth and pretty! (Destiny)

by JDQuackers ⌂ @, McMurray, PA, Thursday, May 14, 2015, 17:29 (3717 days ago)

There is a new beta version of the Destiny app available on Android. They overhauled the interface to be more betterer (somewhat material design-ish). This thing is fluid! Loading your guardians' data is at least 7x faster than before.

They also finally changed the functionality of the grimoire to match that of B.net (with the red bookmarks indicating unread cards). Before it was nearly impossible to tell which cards were the unread ones inside of a particular category.

If you want to try the new app do this:

1. Join the Bungie community on Google+
2. Head to the Play store listing for Destiny and accept the beta user T&C
3. Wait a few minutes and go to the Play Store on your Android device and pull the update
4. Bask in the glory!

Forgot to mention about item transfers

They removed a step in this process by providing the option to transfer, equip or view the item when you first tap on it (instead of forcing you to view the item and then pull up the menu for the latter two options).

Of course apps like Tower Ghost are still superior, but this is definitely a step in the right direction!

Excellent. Right when app transfers were first put in, I assumed they'd eventually do it this way. I'm sure the first step was just that - a first step, to at least make it possible for players while they implemented a better workflow.

I dunno. Tower Ghost definitely has a lot of functionality, but I've found it somewhat unintuitive, and I think it needs to make better use of screen space. I find myself scrolling around the pop-out menu way too much.

Speaking of the pop-out menu, that probably just shouldn't be a thing anymore. Swipe in from left for menu, like everything else on Android. The current UI feels like it was intended for iOS.

Much pretty. Very fast. Also has frames on stats! *IMG*

Not sure what the term is for it, but before you would have to click on things and it would load a new page. No longer for some stuff. For example, in stat, you have two scrolling columns, and selecting from the left will load the stats of that game on the right. This is nice. Prevents super slowness.
