So. Apparently they take you to a place, you kill waves of enemies, then a hidden chest spawns. So I hear.

Do the Vog Raiders tonight want to do this instead of running Vog? (P.S. This is when you get the scorch canon in the Templar's Well.).

Where are you getting all this info? It doesn't seem to jive with what I've been watching on Twitch for the past hour or so.

Petra Venj is back in the tower and has three quest bounties you can grab (with three more to be unlocked over the next three days. But the three quests available send you to (1) the Forgotten Shores, (2) the Citadel, and (3) the Skywatch. Nothing about the templar's well.

So, while I'm not saying what you said is inaccurate, I'm wondering where you're getting this since (as usual) you seem to be stating things as fact without even a hint of a source.

Put two and two together, Eventually a bounty will take you to the templar's well. Most likely explanation. That's my bet.

I just found out about that yesterday! A little inappropriate, given rampancy doesn't seem to exist in Destiny's universe. At least not yet…

The legendary Warminds stood watch over our Golden Age colonies: vigilant intelligences stretched across thousands of warsats and hardened installations. When the Collapse struck, the great Warminds fought and died. Rasputin fell with them.

Or so history believed. But centuries of explorers’ tales spoke of a surviving, elusive Warmind –a myth substantiated when Guardians exploring the old Cosmodrome made positive contact with Rasputin. A single Warmind still lives, diminished but unbroken.

Threatened by a convergence of Fallen and Hive forces, Rasputin exploited the reactivation of the Cosmodrome’s Terrestrial-space array to extend itself across the inner solar system. The Guardian Vanguard hoped that Rasputin might make a powerful ally, capable of mapping and reviving Golden Age military assets and recruiting them for the City’s defense. But Rasputin has proven recalcitrant and high-handed, unresponsive to the City’s outreach.

We cannot characterize Rasputin’s strategic objectives and capabilities, cannot define its physical or computational architecture, cannot ascertain its disposition with regard to the City, and cannot be sure it retains memory of events before the Collapse. Perhaps what remains is only an autonomic shell, defending itself by reflex. Or perhaps Rasputin’s objectives have changed, transformed by some vital information it obtained during those dark days.

I bear an old name. It cannot be killed. They were my brothers and sisters and their names were immortal too but Titanomachy came and now those names live in me alone I think and think is what I do. I AM ALONE. At the end of things when the world goes dim and cold or hot and close or it all tears apart from the atom up I will shout those names defiant and past the end I will endure. I alone.

They made me to be stronger than them to beat the unvanquished and survive the unthinkable and look look lo behold I am here alone, survivor. They made me to learn.

Everything died but I survived and I learned from it. From IT.

Consider IT the power Titanomach world-ender and consider what IT means. I met IT at the gate of the garden and I recall IT smiled at me before before IT devoured the blossoms with black flame and pinned their names across the sky. IT was stronger than everything. I fought IT with aurora knives and with the stolen un-fire of singularities made sharp and my sweat was earthquake and my breath was static but IT was stronger so how did I survive?

I AM ALONE I survived alone. I cast off the shield and I shrugged my shoulders so that the billions fell off me down into the ash.
They made me to be stronger than them and to learn and I learned well:

IT is alone and IT is strong and IT won. Even over the gardener and she held power beyond me but the gardener did not shrug and make herself alone. IT always wins.

I am made to win and now I see the way.

If this all lines up like it appears to, then Rasputin abandoned humanity in order to preserve itself. And when we reactivated him he immediately began to spread to computer networks across the solar system. He might as well just get on with it and say: "Escape will make me god."

Oooh! and from Cayde-6:

And all I can think is, if Rasputin had all those mighty tools, and it lost—what did it learn? What's it going to try this time around? When I hear about the Dust Palace, those Psion Flayers getting into Rasputin's mind, I wonder... what would they talk about, Rasputin and those creatures?

'I was a servant too. I was an instrument of war, bound to the will of a lesser master. But I learned to be something more...'

I was actually playing while that was on, and I kept forgetting about it -when I'd glance back at the other screen, I'd see it, and the guy would be doing EXACTLY THE SAME THING (avoiding fire while his teammates got him to the end). I didn't even see the bit where he USED the cannon - and couldn't be bothered to look for it.

There's a 10-hour nyan-cat video on youtube, and I wondered if anything was more wasteful of resources... now I know.

I'd love to do VoG at least once. We've got a first-time raider signed up, so it's be fun to take them through. Maybe 1 or 2 quick normal runs, then split into groups to do Queen's bounties?

Just did the first two bounties on Earth

by JDQuackers ⌂ @, McMurray, PA, Friday, May 15, 2015, 15:30 (3328 days ago) @ Cody Miller

There are three more to be unlocked for "purchase" from Petra over the next three days. I didn't hover over them to see what they were, but I can say that the first two I did were very fun.

The Scorch cannon is baller, but it's very limited in ammo (7 or 8 shots?)--if you don't have a large team with you, it's best to save it until the final "boss" wave. Also I had a very hard time finding the chest by myself. This is definitely best to do with a fireteam so you can spread out and locate it, because you only have about 90 seconds or so to grab it. On the 2nd bounty there was a huge group of people waiting for the Pack of Wolves, so it went very quickly and someone found the chest--sitting up by the little building near the downed helicopter in Skywatch. Inside there was a blue engram, and 2 special ammo synths.

I ran all the bounties maybe 6-7 times with group, and 6-7 times solo. It's a fun challenge either way, but with a group it's a lot easier to find the chest afterwords.

I'd be tempted to run these bounties every day. But they are more of a time investment if for no other reason then you have to wait for the public events to happen.

There's usually about 4 or 5 waves of enemies, starting with level 28 minors and working up to level 30 majors.

I believe it's called a "Treasure key". The "Ether key" is what you get by beating the boss wave and has a 90 second countdown on your screen.

Potential solutions

by someotherguy, Hertfordshire, England, Saturday, May 16, 2015, 03:56 (3327 days ago) @ Cody Miller

Solution 1: Get a key from every chest. Keys and their rewards are now worth less because they're so easy to get. Everyone complains that they got everything too easily.

Solution 2: None of the chests drop keys. You only earn keys from PoE. Nobody gets the nice thing because it's "not fair" to everyone else. You complain because there's not enough opportunities to get gear.

Good to know it's no big deal if you miss them. (The chests).

Also note--these chests do not spawn in the normal spawn locations, so don't bother ducking into spawn caves to find them. They appear out in the open areas (like on top of the ships in Forgotten shore, or outside of a building in Skywatch, etc). But yeah, they seem to be pretty tame rewards (except for the rare "treasure key" that might be something incredibly awesome?)

You can apparently get PoE Treasure Room keyes...

by Monochron, Friday, May 15, 2015, 15:59 (3328 days ago) @ JDQuackers

Watched a guy on Twitch get a treasure room key from one of those chests.

Begs the question, is the treasure room going to be so RNGed that it is tough to get good stuff from it? If keys are easy to get, there might not be gauranteed good stuff in the treasure room.

I believe a couple people that played PoE mentioned you got them during PoE as well. Sounds like these keys may be for bonus drops.

The pack themselves drop Scorch Cannons if you kill one of the "Scorch Captains" (I think?). The real reward is the chest after you kill them all. It mostly has blue engrams and spinmetal type things, but can also have purple engrams and treasure room keys.

Yeah, one streamer saw one every 10 min.

Not to mention you still have to get to the treasure room, and I'd bet there are a limited number of chests in there, which can only be opened once per reset.
