Does anyone else think Petra is too friendly? *Semi-SP* (Destiny)

So my first impression of Petra was that she was a badass. I mean, she leads the royal guard and the Queen is a cold hearted B!@#$. So she had to climb her way through the ranks to guard that woman. This should make her it somewhat of an icy person right? Not to mention that the fallen just broke out and killed a ton of awoken, yet here is Petra making little jokes about the fallen as if nothing happened!
So is it me or does she seem way to light hearted for her rank? I mean I understand that she has to be someone nice when talking to us... but I was expecting more anger and venom when it came to her talking about the fallen that had escaped like what was in the reveal trailer for HoW.

I actually like it. For one thing, there's way too much of the woman in a high-ranking military position is an unemotional cold bitch in media. I'm ready for other characters. This is a character who's lost an Eye and friends and still is viscerally pumped by being connected to combat, even remotely. You don't have to be grumpy and emotionally disconnected to be a powerful military leader, you can instead have an indomitable spirit.
For more practical reasons I like it because if I'm going to be listening to somebody talk to me throughout all of these levels I'd rather have it be someone who is reacting to things as if it's fun. Frankly destiny had too much stuff that seems like it was not fun to the people in the world and that keep me at a distance. How am I supposed to care about anyone if they are all secrets and sour?

I don't actually want her to be unemotional at all! I just feel like she is showing the wrong emotions. I just think she is a little jovial for someone who was just betray, had her friends kill and the only way to fix it is to let foreigners into her world. I mostly mention this because it fits better with the plot, and when it comes to myself in immersion into the game, I want to feel like this character lost friends to these fallen.

It's another thing (which is fine to be conveyed) that she is excited to be in the field doing something.
I mean even grating voice fallen dude has expressed why he doesn't like the ex-fallen leaders.

I had pretty much the same thought until I caught her line in the first mission that was something like, "Last week I was sending out court documents, but this week I get to send explosions! I LOVE field work!" It was a cheesy line (but not any cheesier than anything I've said while trying to sound bad ass during a firefight), but it put her personality into perspective.
She's a soldier, first and foremost, and she's good enough at what she does to have earned a place serving as the Queen's right hand. While I'm sure it's a huge honor to be given this position, with the Reef Wars won and the Awoken taking a more defensive (or even neutral) role in the current conflict, most of her current duties are decidedly less exciting. Even after the betrayal, she still doesn't get to drop in and kick Fallen butt, but she's given a chance to relive her years of combat and exact her revenge on the Fallen traitors through you. She's excited to see combat again and you're her new battle buddy that's making that happen for her.
In that context, the jokes and the almost giddy tone she uses during some of the more exciting bits make perfect sense to me.

I was going to point out this same line. I don't see it as friendly as much as excited. The cards do a good job of pointing her out as a zealous, loyal soldier, who just happens to love her job. Which to me is always a welcome change for a badass over the usual quiet, stoic type.

The explanation I tell myself is that Petra never liked the Fallen and always thought of the alliance with the House of Winter as a mistake. If that's true, than as soon as the HoW got out of hand, she could stand there with a smile stating "curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal", and then gleefully hunt them down with an "I told you so" attitude. It would also make sense that the Queen would choose someone to lead the Hunt that was least effected by the betrayal.
But yes, there is little gravity in her voice. It certainly shows no fear or issue with hunting them down, which seems strange to me since supposedly this was too big a problem to handle on their own?

What's she afraid of? She's sending Guardians who can "dies as much as they want to" after the threat. And she's doing it knowingly in order to not risk Awoken lives. As Cayde-6 more or less said in a Grimoire card, we're being played. We're mopping up someone else troubles in exchange for treasures...
Doesn't say too many good things about us, does it? (And the Grimoire touches on that as well...)

The Reef is open!
But not that door..
Bungie's always been like that, for sure!
Who knew we'd have our own cryptarch to hate..?
For years I’ve roamed these purple halls
Why have a social space with no ball?
Finally they’re opening up the social space shown in pre-release footage for the game!
There’ll be actual real dead Guardians
They'll be totally strange
But wow! Are they ready for this change
‘Cause for the first time in forever
There’ll be dancing, there’ll be more dancing!
For the rest of forever
I’ll be tossing this knife through the night…
Don't know if I'm dressed too flashy
But opinions will soon be known!
Cause for the first time in forever
I won’t be alone

Actually...(massive spoiler!)

I meant like--there is one, because why would you have a social space with no ball? I think I needed to throw a couple more negatives in there to clear things up :\
