Trials of Osiris - Week 2 (Destiny)

Had the pleasure of running the Trials with Ottermack and Mez last night. We played for a couple hours together, completing 2 complete tickets. Made it through with a 9-1 core for the first card, and a perfect 9-0 on the second.

Just like last week, I had an absolute blast. The elimination game mode remains my favorite PvP gametype in Destiny. The competition felt even more intense this week. I suspect week 1 may have had a larger portion of the population jumping in to try it out. This week certainly felt like we were going up against skilled, coordinated teams on a far more regular basis.

Big thanks to Otter and Mez for teaming up with me! Had a great time, and scored some great loot in the process. My Hunter now has Osiris boots, gloves, and both chest pieces, plus the Osiris scout rifle, auto rifle, pulse rifle, fusion rifle, and the Adept version of the hand cannon with arc damage.

Only bummer of the night was that my 2nd adept weapon to drop was exactly the same as my first; a Jewel of Osiris with arc damage. It's a decent gun, but it's basically a slightly less amazing Fatebringer. So there's really no reason to ever use it, considering I already have 3 365 Fatebringers (first world problems, much? lol). Even so, I walked away from the night with a bunch of great gear and 5 pieces of Etheric Light. Not bad for a couple hours of playtime :) Sits in stark contrast with the 4 (unsuccessful) hours I've spent farming for treasure keys this week.

I recorded a video of our final match of the night. Not a particularly close game, but some fun moments:

How about everyone else? What has ToO week 2 been like for you?

Isn't it designed as a PvP handcannon? Because overall Fatebringer is a terrible PvP gun.

I haven't done a side-by-side comparison of the stats, but the Jewel of Osiris is certainly based on the Fatebringer archetype. Overall handling, rate of fire, even the physical model is pretty much identical. For perks it has 3rd eye and bonus accuracy while airborne (not particularly exciting). It also has a smaller clip than Fatebringer.

I've used it a bit in PvE. Hits like a truck, and handles well. I suspect the impact may be slightly higher than Fatebringer, but overall it feels like "Fatebringer Jr".

That being said, Cyber has a solar version and I'm totally jelly. I nice, hard hitting hand cannon with solar damage would be perfect for dismantling hive and cabal :)

It's a very good crucible gun.

This is what I use it for if I am running Invective or Truth. Primarily, it just sits in my vault as a solar handcannon doesn't interest me much. I had aleady ascended VOC and I quite like that gun.

I got a solar one this week :>
