My tips for Trials of Osiris. (Destiny)
I'm writing this on my lunch break so I might have to split it into parts. I'm going to start with map specific information.
Ok if I had to describe Pantheon in one word it would be linear. You have 3 lanes to watch for, outside, waterfall side, and mid. For a while my team got like 5 games in a row on the same spawn so we were using just left and right side for callouts, don't develop that as a habit, use proper callouts.
EZ callout suggestions: our spawn, their spawn, outside lane, mid lane, waterfall/cave lane (may need to specify their side or your side for the previous 3 locations. We used the locations of heavy ammo spawns to callout if they were midway up one of those lanes). Outside lane is the open side facing the view of the Black Garden. Cave/Waterfall side is the interior hallway that's all purple. Mid is pretty obvious but I used the callout "Cube" to describe the open arena in no mans land. If you know the control zone locations (i don't) then you can use those as callouts also. These are just suggestions, your team might develop different terminology.
Weapon selection: use what you are best with/most comfortable with as long as its purple with 300atk or higher.
My brother used mythoclast/ a sniper of some sort/a machinegun of some sort. Ryan used Hawkmoon but switched to mythoclast/Swordbreaker/ and I think hunger of crota.
I started with hawkmoon/vestian dynasty/hunger of crota but found that for me lastword/pradeyths was the best weapon combo for me. It let me snipe and watch mid, make call outs, and still have good firepower for close to mid range. Last word also excells at finishing enemies your teammates weaken or just general supressive fire. People will try to contest you spamming auto rifle rounds down a hallway, people are a lot less likely to poke their head out when its handcannon rounds.
In general I would advise away from auto rifles for this map unless your team has a way to get in. Scout rifles pulse rifles, some handcannons, and snipers are king. If you are good with it this could be a good map to use No Land Beyond. Shotguns are a viable choice for a secondary depending on your team comp/strats.
Our team comp was 2 sunsingers and a voidwalker. I personally think this is stronger than 3 sunsingers as the startup for self rez is quite long and your enemy will expect your resurrections. In addition 3 sunsingers can have a hard time generating orbs and huge aoe attacks are great in the narrow hallways of this map.
Our main strat was to run 2 to the cave lane and I go solo mid to snipe/callout rotations. This proved to be sucessful and we ran it as our default strategy for our whole card. third eye is a very useful perk for mid sniping. Its a very safe way to run the first few rounds and get a feel for your opponent. If it doesn't work change it up. You should be changing strats by round 3 if things aren't going well. If you are 2-0 with your initial strat I run it until my enemy wisens up.
From my experience most teams avoid sending anyone to the outside lane. You can use this to your advantage for surprise flanks or to get uncontested heavy ammo. I think people avoid it because its "openness" makes it feel unsafe, its lower than the other lanes, and there's risk of fall death.
The one team that gave us a good run for our money was using a completely different strat. It was 2 bladedancers with thorn and a striker titan all with max agility and shotguns. They would all go mid, use teamfire to get an easy kill, then rush while they had the numbers advantage and engage in cqc. It worked quite well until we started putting 2 mid then 3 mid and just waiting them out till they got impatient and rushed or just outplaying them at distance. Saving grenades for their charge also was a key factor in beating them.
I have more insights and tips to share but I'm pressed for time right now. I'll post more later.
My other post later tonight will have more to do with general tips and ideas to play better and a look into team composition. This is more or less all the map tips I have. Pantheon is really static and reminds me a lot of de_dust2. I think I have it more or less figured out and I still haven't solved Shores of Time.
