a friend of mine just texted me and said that he has lost progress on his alt characters.

He hasn't played in several months

He cannot access Crota's end by himself, even though he had regularly "farmed" the first part by himself for materials.

It only has Fist of Crota and the Wakening as his only completed missions.

anyone hear of anything like this?

I can look through his game history on b.net and see all the times he went into the CE Raid alone, but now it won't let him. But it doesn't show any DLC story missions other than Fist of Crota and Wakening.

Can't say I have. I've heard of the DLC data getting lost or corrupted, in which case the fix is typically just re-downloading said DLC. But this sounds more like their progress is gone, rather than the actual content. I suppose re-downloading TDB might still be a reasonable troubleshooting step.

Or, perhaps something's up with their save games syncing between the console and the "cloud." Though I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot that.

Another possible explanation is that at some point, they deleted their alts and started them over. I would think they'd KNOW if they had done that, but maybe it was a long time ago.

I'd suggest posting this on B.net in the #Help forum - maybe someone can figure out what happened.

During one of the last updates before HoW my warlock had to re-run a TDB story mission to re-unlock the nightfall.

More info: Before the update (was it 1.2?) I had completed all of the quests necessary to unlock the nightfall. I had not completed the remaining urn quests, such as surviving the exploding thralls, etc. After the update, I could not start the nightfall on my own. However, my 2nd hunter was in the same boat there and did not have to re-complete any missions to do the nightfall. It was strange, but it only took 10 minutes to resolve.

i just texted him to see if he did the urn quest on his alts, and he doesn't think that he did, b/c he didn't want grind again for the gloves, since he moved on to raiding.

The urn series definitely wasn't necessary when I encountered this. Hopefully if he does the one mission on the map that is shiny that will let him solo crota, start omnigull nightfalls, etc. again. His main character works fine, correct?

Yes, his main is fine.

I just got on my alt tonight and have the same problem. I had done TDB on my alt, and I only have the fist of crota completed.

I don't think I did the urn quest on my alt either.
