Friend has lost TDB progress? (Destiny)

he hasn't played since january. He has a 32 main, and two 31 alts. He hasn't deleted and restarted any of his characters. His main character seems fine. All three of his characters have murmurs.
I'd suggest posting this on B.net in the #Help forum - maybe someone can figure out what happened.
